I usually bring travelers checks and an ATM card. I've had no trouble using either. The exchange rates are usually pretty competitive from one place to another, or so it seemed.

Hi,
I rarely carry foreign cash with me. I always use my standard cirrus/maestro card or sometimes my visa card as ATMs can be found almost everywhere in Patong.
Regards,
Bobby

Hi,
I do exactly the same as Bono. 2 cards. Carry one at a time. Never had any problems.

Seems like a common theme. A little cash, credit card, and ATM card. Cheers!

have the rules changed.....
Well when I was there I took out 30000 B on my visa card at one occation.
The only limit I had was the one by the bank that issued my card.
I had a limit on 10000 SEK cash withrawal for 10 consecutive days at that time.
And i have NEVER EVER walked with my plastic to the bar or restaurants in Phuket. As soon as I got to the guesthouse/hotel the card and passports were always kept safe. I always used my waterproof tube around my neck with all the purples.red.blue.green bills. Still have that tube even today. (Together with all the tags that I got from the christin girls,JJJ,111,AAA,KKK)
