Launderette/clothes washing
Good afternoon gents(and any ladies). Is there anywhere to do clothes washing in Patong? My hotel,C&N does not appear to offer a laundry facility.

I always give my clothes to a laundry because I come to Thailand only with a little rucksack and not so much clothes.
Most I give the clothes in a laundry in the way from the beach road to the Patong Tower. There is a restaurant name "Sweet Apartment" and in the first floor there is the laundry. It is cheap and you get normally your clothes back in one day.

I always make finding a good, cheap laundry my first order of business. There's a good place a block or so down Bangala Road (away from the beach) and off to the right down one of the sois. Walk around a bit and look for a shop with a girl or two inside ironing clothes. They charge by the weight of the clothes, and if you bring them farily early in the morning, they'll be ready that afternoon. I forget the name of the place, though, but they always did an excellent job. They even ironed and folded my underware and socks.

Laundry and staying too long
Hi,
There are loads of laundry services. Usually if you are in a hotel, they just pass it on to a laundry shop and charge you a bit extra.
Look around a few pokey little side streets and you will come across some no problem.
Hi Steve,
Im not an expert about what happens if you overstay, but I saw a program on the TV in the UK, and it mentioned that they would come down hard on people who didnt have the visa. You get a fine per day, and they can take you off to the monkey house. I wouldnt fancy being bummed by some HIV riddled thai man on a 20 stretch for murder! Remember, if you dont get a visa renewal, they aint getting money from you. Play safe and get it renewed

Visa
The easiest way is to apply for tourist visa at the Thai embassy in UK before travelling to Thailand, this give you 60 days wich can be extended with another 30 days at Immigration office.
In many countries they also do this by mail if you live far away from the embassy.

Hi Steve ,
U can get your visa extended at immigration at the bottom of Soi Bangla for a couple of hundred Baht , without having to leave the country , but make sure that you do this BEFORE your 30 days are up or they will charge you overstay and may not renew it.
I will be going over there again at Songkran , 2nd Week in April , might see you there.

You can also arrange this at Phuket International Airport, just after passport control on International flights.
I've done it before, as long as you only overstay by a couple of days. There's a sign on the office door and an immigration/police officer will take you in and ask a few questions.
When they ask why you overstayed, just tell them you love the county, pay a small fine and go on your way.
See ya

Steve,
As Nicke says just apply for a tourist visa (60 days extendable for 30 days more), there are companies in the UK who can sort it all for you or you can visit the Royal Thai Embassy yourself.
Just fill in application form, attach 2 passport photos and u should get it within a day or so. They are valid for 6 months from when u get them too.

Overstay is possible but not recommended. 200 baht/day fine.
I heard about one frenchman who were involved in a fighting few days ago, I dont know if it was his fault or not, but when police saw he overstayed his visa, guess who ended up in jail?
