New road?

Looked at the Patong map at Siam Tourist Maps and noticed the "Road under construction".

Is this a road meant to divert all the traffic passing Patong from going through Patong?

Last year when i was visiting I was asking myself, and the friendly thai bartender in the little hut bar outside my hotel, why such a road weren't built. It would be a real improvement.

Does anyone know when it is supposed to be finished?

Or just plain a bureaucratic bliss. They are the same everywhere

But half finished seems a bit thai - i have to admit. Would be nice if the road was completed though. Any BM who could lend the contractor a few mill to get it finished in the next two weeks?

The new road is basically in place, apparently one guy at the north end won't sell which is holding things up. The base work is in it just needs paving. The current line of it runs from a line slightly east of the hosp, past Jungceylon and Banzan connecting with the wide road just below the southern Nanai Jcn. From SaiNamyen it goes north and pops our near the petrol station. You can't miss it when it rains its the best 4x4 trap in town.

The new road isn't delayed, it is being diverted. It will now run from Phuket Airport to Patong via Suvaranbhumi airport. This is in order to allow the Phuket Limo Mafia to bid for exclusive rights to collect passengers from BKK.
In addition the new road will have a King Power/jewelery store every 200 metres along it's entire length. It is expected that a one way trip in either direction will take just under 25 years. A special visa will be available to Thailand Elite card members.

It will be great when it get concreat and official opened for trafic! It will take a lot of the heavy trafic from Nanai and Rat -U-Thit!
