The BIG C
Hello my friends, I have not been on in a while and the reason is not a good one. I am in a hospital right now waiting to be transfered to another one for an operation to remove my right kidney. I have cancer. The future is not all bad, I think it was caught early enough to not be fatal. It has not spread to any other organs or into the bone. I missed being able to read the threads here but I just learned I could get online so I can sandbag a bit before I go under the knife. I hope all goes well and I will be able to return to Thailand again next year. Like I said before it was great meeting Niche and the crew at the Mai Tai Bar and I look forward to seeing you all again.

had a similar thing happen to me about 15 years ago - lymphoma, fortunately not metastacized (however that is spelt), went under the knife within 24 hours, got given the all clear and moved to Thailand and never looked back whatever happens don't give up hope.

The Big C
Thank you all for the wishes and the laughs. I have a positive outlook for this and I am in otherwise great shape. I am glad to hear that I am not alone in this and that others here have had similar experiences. When I get through this and I am able to return to the Mai Tai the drinks are definately on me!
Talk to you all soon and thanks again.

Hello Chant, I also have the "the big C", except stage 4 terminal. You need someone to talk to give me a holler.

Hi Chant,
Being an ex-cancer patient myself, I know what you're going through. But As others said, it is very curable these days and the main thing is to keep positive. That helps you a lot even in dark times.
I hope all ends well for you, so you can visit the Thai candy store soon.

Go for it mate. A positive attitude does wonders for the healing process - concentrate on the wonderful things you will be doing after the op and your recovery - why not have a little `fantasy day` you plan in patong in your head - all stuff to aim for.
Many on here thinking of you.

Hi Bill,
Fortunately, you only need one of those kidneys, anyways. My grandfather was told he was terminal, had a kidney removed, and altho he took the better part of a year to recuperate, he lived another 20 years before he died of a stroke.
Hope your operation goes well, and that your recovery is speedy!
When you get back to Thailand, the beer will taste better than ever, and the girls will seem sweeter, as well!

Hey Bill!! It may take a little while to teach the remaining kidney to take up the slack but I am sure that with dedication and a little help from the girls in Patong you will be back in top form in no time!!!
Best of luck!!!
