Any travel agent or also on line
It is very easy here on Phuket for domestic flights.
A bit of notice is better but if the flights are slack you can go on the same day.

While i have never flown from phuket to pattya, i think you must go over Ko Samui, i dont know if there is a direct flight. If i where you, i would book from an agent...its so dull being at the airport, and there is no flights avaible
While November isnt the high season, some inland flights can be full, that my experience.
And when you arrive at Pattaya Airport (U Tapao), be advised, there are no cabs, but you must use the minivans outside the terminal, cant remember the prices, but around 500-700 Bath to the Bus station Pattaya central.
If you have a hotelbooking there, try to make them come pick you up instead.
U Tapao, is an old millitary airport, a most horrid place .....Last time i was there, it was cramed with russians, and i had to wait untill the minivans came back from pattaya, in order to get to Jomtien, and there where no restaurants or anything where i could get a cold beer
The Price from Phuket to Pattaya, should be around 2700Bt to 3300Bt, so its cheap enough.
Here is the link to Bangkok Air, whcih i have used several times, good company, high standard.
Bangkok Airways :: Asia Air Travel, Airlines, Flights, Samui Thailand
Have fun.

Is it not better then to fly to bangkok and then take the bus to pattaya, it will be cheaper.
or a taxi (1200 bath)

It depends, Bangkok is big, but i dont know if bangkok Air will relocate to the new Airport or stay located at Don Muang...either way the trip from Bangkok to pattay will, set you off several hours.
You can take a Bus directly from Don Muang to Pattay, i have done that in the past, dont know what there fair is, but its cheap.
But Bangkok Air always have good deals on their fares, check with them, Maybe you can get it cheaper.
I would personally rather fly into U Tapao,, than go from bangkok, the traffic can be mindbogling at times, depending on the time of the day.

it seems to alternate
there is a direct phuket-pattaya flight and a phuket-samui-pattaya flight one day
the next only have the connecting flight
when i 1st started taking that flight it was never fully booked btu in the last year it was almost always fulyl booked, so id book a few days in advance
there is a little cafe in u-tapao that you can get beers and food

Take Bangkok Airways to U-tapao. Yes, there is a 30 minute stop at Samui, but compare that to an hour or so on a smelly bus from Bangkok to Pattaya and it's a no-brainer.
Price-wise, if you book on the Bangkok Airways website, it's 3000 baht one way (including surcharge/tax). A budget Phuket-Bangkok flight on Nok Air is 1800 baht but remember, you're not flying into Don Muang. You're going to the new airport and who knows what hassles you might encounter there. Then you've got to find a bus.....

if you were facing the door to go into the gates, it would be to your left
last time i was at that airport was maybe 6 months ago

You'll find it quicker and easier to fly to Bangkok and get a taxi to Pattaya even more so now with the new airport as it's a lot closer to Pattaya than the old one and you don't drive through Bangkok to get to Pattaya.
Utapao airport is a dump plus you'll still have a 30 minute ride to get to Pattaya from it.

After doing the Phuket to Pattaya flight last year I wouldn't do it again. The airplane was tiny and crammed, the airport was a dump, and no taxis around when I flew in. I think I paid 1000baht for the ride into Pattaya and for where I was staying I think it was at least a 45 minute ride. Next time I would just fly into Bangkok and take a taxi from there. Maybe my experience was so bad because I didn't realize I wasn't actually flying into Pattaya until we touched down and I started asking for a taxi. Live and learn.

The ATR-72 is a great aircraft, and ideally suited to Bangkok Air's business model.

Hi i booked my flight via the website which was easy.
The flight was good and not very full.
The aircraft was small a twinned propeller aircraft never been on anything that small, we went straight through to Pattaya.
Not much at Pattaya airport but there are mini vans 250 baht each person or you can take a taxi for 1000baht.

I'm sure Bangkok Air does quite well with that plane as the price per seat must be a sweet deal for them but for me, the customer, it's not exactly the smoothest ride. I guess for me it might just seem so tiny because of being on a huge jet flying across the world before I get onto something like that.

It was my impression that the new airport is for international flights and that Don Muang will still be the airport for domestic flights. Is that not the case?
