Beerlao in Australia

Just a note for Aussie Beerlao lovers...

I had been watching Grays Online auctions for months hoping Beerlao would return but to no avail....but today I found Beer Store I put in my order for a case...$59 delivered to Sydney. I know this is far from cheap but I am not a big beer drinker and happily pay extra for a beer I really enjoy

Will let you know how long delivery takes

That Thai foodery has changed hands sooooo many times, even my misses wont eat there, as she reckons the staff are rude.

The grog shop is outside of Market City on Thomas Street just down from the hotel, I think its Arans or something.

Everyone keeps telling me about this beer but I have yet to find a bottle..

Must say I thought the Bintang on Bali was a crisp, clean, tasting beer..

Guys you are way off course you need to go to thai town in Sydney

I think it is albion street (not to good with street names) at least 5 thai shops selling DVD, fruit and veg, the pill if you need it and any or all the other thai stuff, you can pre order what you want so any type of thai beer requirements should not be a problem. If you need directions I will do my best to help you. I do offer a self guide service for 100 baht.......

They do not sell alcohol. Best bet is the bottle shop I have already mentioned, will check it out on Saturday.

Sure your not confusing the Thai beer 'Leo' with Beer Lao from Laos ??

I have not yet been able to get any here as its not distributed in Thailand and no Thai I have ever asked for it knew what I meant.. Only distro so far (that I read about) was a farang BKK gogo owner getting some crates and selling low volume.

Not saying its not there but if its a Thai shop selling imported Thai goods then having Beer Lao would be unusual.

Lao Brewery Company Limited (beer-Lao)

And not Boon Rawd Brewery Company Limited Leo

Mate said its popular in Phom Phen also.. His words were that no wonder thai brewers aren't letting it in as it would end sales of most Thai brands overnight.. Dirt cheap and award winning taste.

Personally among the beers here I find none are too great.. Heineken is chem city.. Singha and Chang are ok for a couple or with some ice with a meal.. But drink either all night and aftertaste gets a bit nasty (chang especially).. Tiger probably ranks about tops but again has a less crisp clean taste of a proper Pilsner. Leo is probably my least favorite.

San Mig cans are pretty good.. Esp the San Mig light low calories one IMHO.. Crisp and clean but not sold in bars much.

yes mate true............

bobby bigmac was Doning his beerlao t-shirt in patong, some locals were impressed by it maybe cause he was spreading the good word 555,they knew the beer, but a fair few(locals that is) didnt have a clue, many times we heard people comment on it,i'd turn around and say'good beer' and get a reply 'i dunno' or a confused look.
LIL u dunno what your missing5555555555,very nice beer,im sure you'll get your hands on it soon.
me and the crew went to a place called Porthouse or something in covent Garden this weekend,4 floors of beers from allover the world,i was saying that i could do with a beer lao, thinkin no wau they'll have it,and i guess i was right, but they had it on the menu, just had run out, must be in high demand,or there obviously cant get enough of it over here.

Definitely available in Oz, The Beer Store :: Buy Beer Online, World Beers, International Beer Shop, Australia select Laos in country list.

Would not be available in a Thai grocery shop, alcohol sales are very tightly controlled down here in Oz, even 7-11's cant sell beer.

Are you talking about Albion Street in Surry Hills? Off Elizabeth Street, not far from Central Station? (In the same street as an "establishment" called Thai City)
If so, I remember these shops, good call Oasis.
