The demolishing area - The new project
The demolished area is 55 rai (88000 m2) and the developing company revealed their plans on Nov 26, Gazette write about this in the latest issue. (Today)
This 3 billion baht center is named Jungceylon, consist of 3 storeys and will inclide a 500 room hotel with serviced apartments, bars, dance clubs, 10 film teathers, a 30-lane bowling alley, a 1,000-seat cabaret theather, a supermarket and a food center plus parking for 120 buses and 1400 cars.
They also write
Zone A: international restaurants, "active lifestyle"; fashion, sport and fitness center, spa.
Zone B: Civic place, outdoor area with old sailing ship and musical fountain as centerpieces.
Zone C: 10 movie teathers, karaoke venues, bowling alley, cabaret hall, the hotel (Burasari chain), supermarket, food center
Zone D: Dining and nightlife, incorporating restaurants, a dance club and a number of wine bars.
This place is expected to create 2,000 jobs and boost Phuket tourism, they think they will open in December next year.

It's opposite Star World (Shark CLub).
That's why 7-11, PIzzeria Hut 1, Patong Gym, Sauna, Speednet internet cafe, Top Bike, Patong Whiskey, Scandinavian Divers and lot of other companies had to move or close down when they demolished everything in this area.

to nicke
i hope it's not opening next december because it sounds a bit quick to build a 500 room hotel and all the other stuff.
In Southampton a waterside development building 374 flats has taken over 1 1/2 years and it's still only half way through.
if it's built like the old 7-11 then maybe it will be built that quick, the speed that building came down in two days.

I heard talk of them building a sports centre near the waste treatment plant about two / three years ago so who knows!!
