I'm just back from a beautiful month in Patong, and as the last few years I allways used the Chiang Rai Seafood, great food, good service and low prices.
You will find it if you take the last Soi to the left at the top end of Soi Bangla,
behind the old Thai Boxing place.

Phuket has many and varied resturants.. Everything from 20 baht noodles to a few k baht per head and 200 USD wine.. Sushi to salmon..

What do you like, is the ambience important, is the eating experience about tings other than eating..

Cool

For somewhere that is predominantly a bar but also does food, you have to go a long way find somewhere better than Crusty's chef at Fawlty Towers in soi Sunset. Western + Thai food.

Just around the corner there's The Pizzeria at the start of soi San Sabai. Good thin crust style pizzas.

American Burger/TexMex at the new(ish) rock bar on the beach road (name escapes me) is worth a visit.

Have fun

Thumbs up

Hey maca52,
Just returned from my first foray into Phuket, and I also thought that Chang Rai was an excellent place to stuff yourself with fresh seafood (1 kg.
lobsters being the preferred target). Didn't pay too much attention to price but it was definitely cheap by our standards! There are 7 small seafood "stalls" located in one laneway just off Bangla (enter beside Tiger Bar, if I remember correctly) and they share a common seating area. You have
to wander through the reps from the competing restaurants trying to entice you to their particular place, but Chang Rai was my choice (but likely only because it was the first one you hit!).
There are unlimited restaurant choices just in the Bangla Rd. area including excellent Italian (pizza & more), steak houses (Aussie beef seems to be the thing), Indian, etc. They all have real Thai food (learn to say "mai pet"
- not hot) to keep the girls happy and you should give it a chance, but it helps to wait until you've got your new BG to help you avoid catching fire by inadvertently scarfing down that chili that looked like something else to you. Beware that your new friendly Thai girlfriend will find nothing more funny than watching you pound back water & beer in rapid secession in a fruitless attempt to put out the fire!! What we do for their amusement amazes me!
Also, don't turn your nose up at the excellent street meat that is available at numerous carts - skewers of chicken, fish, etc. at miminal baht. It is a good idea to hit one of these carts when you're wandering back to your hotel at 3:00 am after another evening of over-imbibing at the endless choice of Bangla Rd. beer bars, go-go's or whatever happens to be your preference. I had a favourite cart along Bangla (near Yorkshire Inn) but they are everywhere.
Don't eat too early in the evening so you don't start drinking too early, and remember to get your 3:00 am feed from the cart - then you should be ready to do it all over again the next day, but actually survive at the same time! Enjoy your trip!

I also like the seafood joints in the alley between Tiger and Ratuthit. I usually run the gamut to go to the one nearest to Ratuthit, next to the pharmacy.it think it is called # 1. I've been there many times and they always remember me, and treat me well. the food is good, too, esp. the seafood.

Another place I like is the one which is on Ratuthit, not far from there, at a hotel. They have lots of tables outside, the food is pretty good, and you can watch the parade of BGs going by on their way to the bars or w/ their dates. I think it is called Phuket Villa. It is on the east side of Ratuthit, a little way north of Soi Sunset. Not cheap, but very reasonable.

Of course, if you are talking about getting the best food, the place Urtheman worked at outside of town(Surin Beach?) was awesome, altho a little pricey, and, Savoey, the big one on the east side of Beach Road, between Bangla and Sawatdirak is very good, too(also pricey).

Actually, since No. 1 Seafood Restaurant is not much more than 30 paces from the corner of Bangla and Ratuthit, it is a bit of a walk from Stoney Monday. 10 minutes, I would say.

You have that whole outdoor restaurant complex a little way past the corner of Ratuthit and Sai Nam Yen, the one where Number 99 Restaurant is, that is a lot closer, perhaps half as far. Food is pretty good at 99 restaurant, as well.

Told this before:

Cocoanut, on main road going 100 meters north from Bahia beach, on the opposit site of the road, between the other oudside dinbner restaurant. Fish cakes, best I had, good, but more expensive seafood, but very good other things too. Food has taste here, and is genuine.

Seahawk, on beach road in the soi near the Zen. Abit fancy, not too much, gay owned, but very good Thai food. Prices a bit more expensive then the outdoor restaurants, but fair for the quality.

Phuket seafood

I'm not sure of the name but it is on the Bangla side of the K Hotel on Th Rat Uthit, may be Restaurant No. 6 but I'm not sure. Outdoor seating, next to a little pub w/live music. Picked out some large prawns on ice, made into a spicy curry - aah, just thinking about it! There was another seafood place on the beach, there are several there in a cluster, that I tried several times with great results.

Never had much luck w/seafood in Bangkok but havn't spent much time looking.

Yes it is called No.6 restaurant. Just had lunch there

This has to be one of the busiest eateries in all of Patong. Try going there at 8pm at night - bursting at the seams with people.

Food is tasty and prices are good.

If you can't get into No.6, try "Dang's Restaurant" right next door. Prices are virtually identical, and the meals are also of a good quality.

But be warned that it too gets very busy. Best to get there around 6-7pm for a table for dinner.

No1 seafood was my favorite of those mainly as they always remembered me and gave that bit extra service..

But there has been a staff fallout.. And all the people (cook included I think) have left and now work a few doors down at (I think) number 5..

I took my custom to the staff that I like.. Literally got up and moved when I saw them after already sitting down at No1.. That got sour looks from No 1 and cheers from the ones that I always see..

Crab yellow curry there is top notch..

I still like Chaing Rai behind Tiger for cheap good Thai food.

Savoey not bad but tourist prices (ie overpriced).

I think I've eaten in "No6" and the food was good, but really packed.
