A Question for Nicke
Nicke
Can you tell me the position of taking children into bars in Patong.I have two girls of 16 and 13 but they do look older. Will I still be able to take them into the bars when I fancy a drink or do I have to send them off shopping!!
In the UK we have some strange licencing laws that allow 14yr olds into bars only if they are accompanied to have a meal.Otherwise I think its above 16 to enter but 18 to buy a drink.
Thanks for any reply

I am not sure about the law, but I think guests has to be 20 years old to visit a bar and 18 to work in one.
But in Phuket, as a tourist destination, families and kids are ofcourse welcome everywhere and I never heard about any problems regarding this. I often have families and young kids in the bar, so in your case, I think no problem at all for you.

With your reputation ,I think if you are there in April I would be more worried about you trying to barfine my kids whilst I'm taking a leak!!!
Seriously I think they both realise that Phuket is going to be completely different to what they are used to and will probably be like me and sit in a bar with their heads going round like gun turrets trying to take it all in.As to what I will get up to well I will have to wait an see!!!

Nicke is correct, customers regardless of nationality by law are meant to be 20. I have never seen it enforced in Patong. I have asked the question several times to the local boys in brown, and they say they arent worried about it.
It does concern me though when parents bring young boys around 10 and up into the gogo. I really do feel like telling they cant come in, but as usual the boss, I mean the wife, says not to worry about it.
Remember though it has been enforced in Bangkok recently, and who knows what else will come along with the new closing times onced introduced.

Kids and go-go bars
I was in a go-go bar in Soi Seadragon, and there was a family came in with a young boy of about 5 year old. The parents didnt care one little bit.
The girl on stage was naked and was stuffing ping pong balls up her minge and spitting them out again. Now he will have some good stories to tell the teacher when he goes back to school.
Also, the parents were both wearing those stupid stupid stupid hats from the Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand. Why do people buy that shit?
You wear it once, take it home, and then stuff it in a cupboard never to be seen for another 20 years!!
