Serious "tea money" collection going on
Just ridden back from Soi Sansabai. Lucky I'd parked my bike right at the top by the Orchid. Police are collecting some serious money. EVERY bike up one side is chained way past the Yorkshire. Must be at least 100. I guess they ran out of chain hence they haven't chained right to the top!
Usually after about 10pm there's no problem parking bikes either side...NOT tonight!

Yep, should be 300baht/bike. 3 Police were there. Don't know if they're sending everyone to the Station to pay. Didn't hang around to find out. Even the girl with her cart selling burnt animals on sticks outside The Venue (Old ThaiLife) had been made to move.

That is a pitty land of smiles, it must be a good day for the police again today. I knew about the 300 Baht approx. because I had once a 300 Baht fine for wearing not a helmet and I had to pay at the policestation and there were about twenty people in front of me in line for the same

How are you supposed to know which side is the correct side on any given day when both sides are equally packed on San Saibai? Is there a marker of some kind?

There are a couple of markers but you'd never see them unless you were looking for them.

There are quite a few signs in Thai and English - its the odd/even day deal - parking on each side alternately.
Feel sorry for Gan (food seller opposite Sand Inn) - she's had that spot years and told me she has to pay 5000 Baht/month for the privalige of vending there.
Dec 1st - sees JungCeylon car park open - so hope end the acute shortage of parking in Patong.

You should also know K2, the police in Patong is as corrupt as h.ll. When tey feel like it , they give you a ticket, when they have a good day they don,t.
Take for example the closing time at Safari, when they feel like it , they close it.

There are far greater powers at work behind what you see. Dont always blame the mib, they are just the up front people and doing as instructed. Same as you in your job doing as told.

I was told by a well respected bm expat, that soi sans sabai is a private road.
He informed me that hotel owners have the right to charge motorcyclists to park their bikes out the frt. of their hotels if they wanted to do so.....No owner has done this to his knowledge.
With this being a private soi........The police actualy have no right to book people.
But we know that T I T.

I believed it was a public soi up to the roundabout Baan Benjamins entrance where it become a private land issue ??
I am told Soi Sunset is a private Rd.. Doesnt stop them wanting 10 baht to park your bike on it..

Rumour control has it that the cops got pissed off with the bikes being parked 3 and 4 deep, blocking traffic so they had a mass clamp down (pardon the pun) just to put the message across. I feel sorry for Bill in Summer Breeze and his customers who have to wade past hot exhausts to get to and from their beds. Unfortunately this time the cops get my vote!! The volume of bikes is far too great for the vailable parking and peeps are reluctant to walk that extra hundred meters or par with a whole B20 to park.
