taxi/transfer prices
hope you can help and sorry if its been posted before. (i did check).
im arriving in phuket on the 29th dec for 7 nights. we are staying on kata beach. ive contacted the hotel and they charge 700bht to pick us up. does this sound okay???
i know this bit shoud be on the bangkok page but we arrive in bangkok on 16th dec and are stopping at the landmark hotel. they have quoted me 2200bht to be collected or 4200bht round trip. this seems expensive (66quid) but im not sure how far it is from the airport or the going price for taxis.
can anyone give me some idea of the costs please and if it would be cheaper to get a taxi ourselves or get there some other way
thanks very much

The price sounds ok to me, I normally pay 500 bath from the airport to the Phuket Palace in Patong.
Perhaps you could find cheaper transport which would end up costing you more in the end.

What airport are you talking about?
I'm assuming you're flying into Bangkok then flying to Phuket.

In Bangkok as AD said 350bht one way to your hotel is about right, go to level 1 and get a taxi.
Still find it hard to believe they want to charge 2200bht, at least **** Turpin wore a mask.
Phuket to Kata 700bht is ok in my book.

Send them a mail and ask why it is so high when you know that a taxi costs 350-500 baht !! If they palm you off with some trivial excuse, I would advise you watch yourself when you are at the hotel, if they are trying it on with airport pick-up, then what other tricks do they have up their sleeve to con you with ??

This is what another BM paid from BKK Airport to Landmark Hotel
You are being ripped off big time.

As said, 700baht is a good price to Karon from Phuket Airport. Its 550 to Patong, and a tuktuk will charge you 200 baht more to take you to Karon, so you quote is good.

Its highly likely that the Landmark will send a merc or similar 'limo'.. Certainly at that price I would expect so..

You can rent a car at Phuket Airport for as little as 900 baht for the whole day, last time I checked.
