dam thai post
Hi everyone i was looking for an answer into why my post doesnt seem to reach phuket i sent a letter on november 7th and also have sent 4 others since which have not got there and being today decmber 12 th i have been getting concerned about it i did send a parcel on 1st november which was recieved by 8th november but letters im aware take about 3 weeks before when i sent them.
Am i worrying for nothing as it is xmas and post here in england is slow xmas time, im hoping thailand are having the same problem at this time of year,i have sent post to this address before and it has gotten there no problems.
The post is to a friend of mine who owns a bar in patong although i have been told sending letters to thai bars is risky as the thai post offices tend to think its money in the letter from farang and keep the letters i dont know if this is true but would like info on the ways the post is dealt with in Thailand.

I was losing so much at my last address.. Certain the mail guy was nicking them..
When the post office got caught on camera in Patong pinching money from an envelope (was in thai press and TV.. Especially as they tried to hide it and not involve the police) thats was my 300 USD !!
Yet my house now seems fine.. Never had a problem.. I reckon its individual posties..

So what is the general experience of how long airmail postcards or letters take to reach Patong? Just curious to know.
I sent a postcard to my gf about 2 1/2 week ago and to date she didn't get it yet.

Jason - have also had this problem for 8 years although this year it has improved a bit.
Airmail gets checked in Bangkok and driven by truck down to Phuket - they have plenty of time to search through the overseas mail on route or at the sorting office. Phuket town had a big problem with this and was a big bust last year. I've stopped virtually all mail from overseas, as fed up with this pilifering.
Mail to bars as already mentioned is easy target - if anything important then send via courier.

Jason, I started a thread called Does Your Mail Reach the addressee in Thailand earlier this year, might have some ideas. My mail went missing and did look like it might contain money, but only had a card.

Post from UK 7 - 10 days actual (not biz days) seems the norm for mail and small air parcel..
As stated anything of more value than a postcard has to be registered mail..
