Beach chairs : prices everywhere same - same?
I used to pay my 2 beach-chairs and umbrelle 100 bath.
Today, I head not much consumed and i noticed I payed 200 Bath. Now I am not saying that this is much, certainly compared to the South Of France, where i live, but an increase of 100%, is much.
Has somebody else notice this? Ae they asking this everywhere now.
If the weather is medium, and I spend an hour on the beach, well, then it is not worth it.

Yep, 200 baht per set, even in sleepy Nai Harn.
Being from the US, beach chairs seem a bit sissy - we usually lay on the same towel we dry off with. And my wife's from Isaan and therefore used to rolling around in the dirt.
So we bought a cheapo plastic mat and lay it out on the sand. If we get a little gritty, well, there's the world's biggest bath tub just a few steps away. Chairs only matter if you want to eat lunch.

It is a cartel pricing system... seems the new price is based on the fact that the new chairs are made of a different material post-Tsunami (i.e. plastic vs. wooden), therefore more expensive to buy and maintain.... Just an excuse to raise the price, and compensate for the chairs lost... These chairs pay for themselves in less than a month I'm sure.
Haven't seen the new chairs yet... just read about them, but I will take a look next month.

Parasols and beach-chairs are for "PiggiePinkies" only!
I go to the beach to get a tan!
A sarong laid out on the beach is all I need, and it's all free!

TJ, it are not the chairs that I need! It is the parasol, that comes along!
Could not spend much hours in the sun, and my TG would not appreciate....
The chairs are for me the same as the ones before, at least in Kata.

Believe the new price came into effect in November. Started by the Karon-Kata beaches and was later 'agreed' that it was to be over the whole island. A 'bit' steep increase. Even somec operators are complaining about it as they did not agree but had to follow.
At my favourite beach it is still free.... at least for me...

I've noticed that guys who wear those little speedo thongs prefer the chairs - keeps the sand out of the crack, I guess.

Agree have always paid 100 for two around kata, karon, surin and patong and 120 for two at paradise so if that is the case the price has jumped 100% as the last time was a couple of months ago

Went on a speedboat trip to Phi Phi last week and had a stop at Kai island for an hour, The lad in charge of the boat informed us if we wanted a chair on that beach it would cost us 150 Baht each.
