off peak prices in May-but what's the weather like?

Ideally I'd like to go to Phuket March/April time but May may be the earliest I can get there. How does the weather compare to the earlier dates? Hotels seem a lot cheaper as they are priced at the Low season rate. Also if i went for 8 weeks would I have to do the visa run?

Thanks

Mark

I can confirm that their will definitely be some weather. Try this site for past history Phuket Island, Thailand, Apartments for rent in Patong.

I went for 9days in May earlier this year, weathers fine, some brief torrential downpours, but they never last long, and its not exactly cold like the rain we get here in the UK.

April is hot may might start into rainy season.. Depends but even so hot and worth it..

If coming for 8 weeks get a tourist visa first, saves the hassle of visa run..

I go around this time every year. The bars are busy, although not as busy as Songkran (10/13th Apr). The weather is hot and there is little rain, just the odd evening heavy storm

October Waves

I've been to LOS a number of times in the last two weeks of October. You do get some rain and weather but you also get waves. I love to body surf and the ocean is perfect for that. Starting Nov 1, right on schedule for the high season the ocean goes flat.

just a small beware if not experienced in surf be careful rips are bad at this time, and every year read in the paper of drownings.

This is the sort of thing you can expect to occur in April. About two mins after this pic was taken the heavens opened.
An hour later, the sun was blazing down again.

Im looking forward to seeing what may is like.... Personally i dont care if its Jan feb march or whenever the main thing is being in Thailand..... And not matter what there will be loads to do. I remember being on a boat coming into Bangkok in Oct 2003 (i was told it was coming to the end of the rainy season), I wanted to go for a smoke and it was pissing down with rain. So i though to hell with it and went out side... It was lovely... I know that the storms might be worse than that but who cares... There will be tons to do regardless.

Ill just remember to pack my umbrella incase i am caught in Phuket town or something.
