Petrol 24/7
Just to let people know, since Xmas or so, the petrol station in Kathu seems to be 24/7. Several times I have filled up at 4am
Stops you buying them night time expensive things.

From what I heard it's a nationwide change which is greatly needed. Many times I've been sweating if the car will run out of petrol or not coming back from the airport at 11pm.
Does anyone know for a fact if it is nationwide or just local?

I remember when they stopped the 24 hours selling of petrol, in their minds to reduce the usage of it. Yea right, another hair brain decision.

26 Baht-ish
They thought that if they close the stations at 10pm then it would also help the enviroment.
That is the only petrol station I have seen in phuket that is open 24/7

You may have noticed that the pumps are now on a central pre pay system.. So cuts the staff.. When they made the laws to allow 24h service again many stations complained they didnt want to..
But as DB says if you drive around its a nightmare.. I had multiple major freakouts riding a bike through the night returning from Malaysia one time.. Just nothing open, each time the tank ran down I was panicing and bothering villagers, would fill even 1 or 2 liters to keep a full tank. Like people dont travel at night ?? !!

LivinLOS, exactly my thoughts and feelings. How does it help the environment? I would think that it will help the environment because people travelling at night have much less traffic and aren't sitting in any traffic jams. Car is running less and less petrol/gas being used.
At times I really do get confused with the Thais way of thinking. But yet again, I'm sure they see us do some crazy shyt.

No I agree it doesnt help anything to close petrl stations.
if you are at Point A and you need to get to point B - theres no other way than use your vehicle and thats it.
Same in England etc, put petrol prices up, doesnt mean you will use the car less because no matter what you have to get from A to B no matter what the price is.
