Late Bookings from UK
For anyone interested, ebookers.co.uk are offering flights to Bangkok for £371 flying from Heathrow with Royal Jordanian Airlines. This probably means a stop in Amman on the way.But its pretty cheap. You have to book by 25th June and travel before 30th June.

Its cheap for a reason Dawsey. Ive flew with royal J before and had very bad experiences both times. If an offer seems too good to be true it usually is. Personally Id rather pay the extra £50-100 and go with Thai air etc etc.

Royal Jordanian
My advice is stay well away.
I flew with them last year. It took 2 and a half days to get to Thailand and four days to get back. On top of that they lost my luggage on the way out. ( took another three days to arrive.) And one of my bags on the way back.
Also Uzbekistan airlines give you a similar experience.
I wouldn't use either of these again, even if they were free.
I have been visiting Thailand 4 times a year, for the last 6 years & always fly Thai if I can get a reasonable deal. I've probarbly flown with them 15 times and have never had a single problem.
Swiss Air is ok. but a 5 hour wait in Zurich when i used them. Also Malaysian are good but also long connection times in KL.
Also when you book from the UK. I'd advise you to keep away from the agents Travel House for bookings. The bastards quoted me a price over the phone & took extra out of my account. When I contacted them on my return all i got was the runaround.
You can do without the hassle.

Where did you book - I go to Phuket 7 times a year and have never managed this price, your timings look like Thai Air - only way to fly. My typical flight is:
Heathrow TGI's terminal 3 - 9am to 11.30 - stella and spice rum
TG911 - Get seat beside the galley - jd and / or Whisky coke for 11 hours
BKK Transfer lounge to phuket 6.30am to 8am - vodka nam som (orange)
GF picks me up off floor at phuket airport - she is not impressed!!
Arrive in house thinking great way to fly!!
Anybody else have thoughts on how they handle the tedium of flying
ps heading back to Phuket Apr 26 for 4 weeks - my bar love bar - tiger
cheers

You did well there Mac £487.00. if it was Thai. and as geespot said, the timings sound like it. I,ve not been able to get a deal like that since about 2 years ago.
Getting back to you geespot and how best to handle the flight? I buy sleeping pills from LOS. pharmacy. I take one after the first meal of the flight, about 2 hours into the flight. I sleep solid for about 8 hours and wake up with enough time to have a bite to eat and to get my brain together and hey presto your landing in B/kok. Some will say it's taking a risk with this deep vein thrombosis thing but, that's life and it's better than enduring the long flight, although it's not so bad on the trip out as you are looking forward to what's ahead for the next couple of weeks or so. The real drag is on the way back after your stay, when you you're in that meloncholy mood and have the next few weeks or months to endure before your next trip.
I've seen grown men cry when the plane takes of at the end of their holiday.

Fair comment Eric and Chucky66. I myself am going Singapore Airlines this Apr
Leave LHR 12noon arr Singapore 7 30am local time leave Singapore 8 40am and land Phuket 9 30am local. For this I paid £661 back last Sept.
Hearing that flights were filling fast for Thailand I thought it worth mentioning when I saw this cheap flight.I have had no experience myself with Royal Jordanian but have flown Emirates,Qatar Airways and Gulf and all were good flights.Obviously not all Mid East airlines are good. Sorry
Dawsey

This next trip has cost me £742.00 in flights alone,
thats direct with B.A (not my first choice but was cheaper than thai air) and after a few days in BKK it also includes my flights to and from Phuket so not to bad all in all, at least i do not have to wait in a que at bkk airport for a phuket flight.
My journey normaally goes like this leave Birmingham at 04.00am ,check in at Heathrow at 09.30 ish,
go to T.G.I fridays for a breakfast a pint or 2 of stella,
board the aircraft then Brandy, bacardi or vodka and coke ,to excitied to sleep but try anyway after in flight food.
Mid flight for a change either water or a Vodka and orange
aarrive BKK ,either transfer lounge coffee or first proper Singha then phuket.
or check into my BKK hotel.
This next tour i will be totaly solo spending a few days in Bangkok/khoncharbi (spelt wrong i know) then on to phuket where i know a couple of my friends will be for a few days then its the rest of April all on my lone some to make new friend s hehehehehehehhee best of it every one here is saying awww going on your own, but im wishing my life away at the moment guess you all know why

Hi Geespot
I always fly with Thai air too , this year has cost me £450 uk pounds , flying from T3 at heathrow 12:30pm on mar-31st, my connecting flight not quite as good because the flight that gets you to phuket for 9:20 AM was all booked up when i called , but i got the next one arriving 10:30 AM , so just a little later but no prob for me . the £450 is for both flights of course and i always use airline network and find if you call the nimber on the website you get better deals/service/ flight info , rather than booking online , here the link ...... http://www.airline-network.co.uk/

I booked my flight with Thai Airways direct. I booked it in February. Just a thought but do note the following: It only applies to Domestic travel.
"Thai Airways International Public Company Limited is pleased to announce an extension of the Royal e-Service’s promotion period for domestic travel until 31 March 2004, as per the following details :
The passengers using Royal e-Booking via www.thaiairways.com or www.thaiair.com to make self reservation on the domestic route will receive 10 % discount from the normal fare ( please choose “lowest fare” only ). In accordance with this, reservation must be made today until 31 March 2004, and ticket must be issued within 72 hours of making reservation. Ticket is valid for 3 months. However, all travel must be completed by 30 April 2004."
