Hi

Well my long awaited visit to Thailand is only one day away!

On visiting my NHS dentist yesterday I need a crown on one of my 2 front teeth as I cracked it whilst in the USA.

My problem is I am hoping to get the work done in Thailand but my time only gives me 5 days in Bangkok and 7 days in Patong.

Having looked on the websites of various dentists, I am trying to find a dentist where they build the crowns in-house.

To have the work done in the UK when I get back takes 2 weeks, but I only have a week back in Wales before heading back to my next contract on a cruise ship! I really do not want to get it done in Mexico.... I have been twice to Mexican dentists and lets just say the toilet from the bar in the film Desperado's come to mind!!!!

Can anyone recommend a dentist where they can build the crowns fairly quickly but quality is still good. I was thinking of the Patong Hospital hopefully???

Your help is appreciated on this matter........

I think my mates have had crowns done in short time periods..

Female Chinese painless dentist on Sai Nam Yen.. Come about 200m back from the Rat U Thit traffic lights and next door to Keng Keaow pharmacy.. If heading away from Rat U Thit its second from the end on the left side on second block. Highly recommended and not expensive.

Patong hospital is cheaper but I have heard tales of not being painless and a lack of the kind of customer care that a private business offers. One person told me the tale where it was hurting, he told the dentist, and the dentist replied no it doesnt !!!

If you want a hospital setting, try Bangkok Phuket Hospital. A bit more expensive then some of the private clinics, but it is a nice setting with modern equipment. You can bring in your own DVDs and watch it while they work.

A lot of good dental places here. You won't have a problem finding one.

If anyone else knows where they make crowns in house please let me know.

I don't know if your trip is planned out, but you could consider to split the 5 days in BKK to a 2-3 days at each end. Then you can get the tooth prepared and temped w/ the impression taken in BKK, go to Phuket and get the final restoration placed at the end ib BKK before you go. BKK has lots of good dentists.

Thanks Poskat. Bangkok Dental clinic quotes 3-7 days. I am in Pattaya for last 2 days but could always get a bus back to BKK to finish dental work.

I can recommend Thailand Dentists - Bangkok Dental Clinics and Bangkok dentist,

located near the Thailand Cultural Centre subway station in BKK. I went there for a filling and teeth whitening, very professional and very cheap (compared to western). I don't think they have a on-site lab though.
