Favourite bars
Hi
Been reading these threads for a few days now...
Who needs any other entertainment?
So, apart from the often repeated Cpt. Kirks and Mai Tai -- which I will definitely be visiting....
Which are the other bars favoured by everyone here?
Always best to go on experience, isn't it?

Yeah U2 is good I like to start my night there also the U2 annexe across the road is good but just to pass the time wandering through the many small bars in the many Soi's can prove interesting. Tiger is becoming a favourite of mine as well

Jaws!!!
Hey Jaws
How are you???
I read in an earlier message, that you might have to have your next 'religious crusade' to LOS sometime in April?
I will be in Thailand from 7 April, and in Patong from around the 15th until 26th . . . Get your ass over there! . . I will meet you at the Mai Thai.
Cheers
Pdm3 :p

I prefer the Soi Gonzo and the favourite bar is the New World Bar because I know the owner a long time. But it is very noisy - every bar plays there own music – so you can not stay a long time inside.
Next is Soi Eric and of course Mai Thai Bar.
To later hour I also look in various other Bars around Patong.

I would like to recommend Dragon Entertainment, they close late and it is fun to play pool. They have many tables so if you are a group you may be able to play on more than one table. (Like last night, we used 3 tables for ourself.)

PDM3, yeah you read right and I'm trying real hard for April, the trouble is getting a flight from Broome to Perth at such late notice as Easter is around that time. I'm on a wait list so I'll just have to wait and see. Playing around with a few options and dates.
I'll let you know when I know the dates and have booked. Can't wait

fave bars
Like others have said already there are many bars to choose from and its best to look around (especially for newbies) , i used to like some bars around soi seapearl which often gets overlooked because bangla is so famous as is soi eric etc... but i do like Scooby's bar in Soi Eric because its run by english men and its always nice to meet fellow country men so far from home,so next time you go mai thai bar , have a quick drink with the lads ay scooby's as well , Rick and Alan are there names and they are both a good laugh .. its on the left hand side of soi eric

I to like the bars in SeaPearl!
A little bit more relaxed. Maybee not perfect for the party-animals, but if you want to sit down and take it easy, it's the place! I got stuck at Blue Star Bar and after a some evenings there I realy felt like one in the family! Was even invited to some of the girls for a "Buddha-cermony". Three of the boys in orange was visiting there home and was reading blessings for about a hour! Wery intresting and defenitly something you don't expierence on Bangla!
But I admit, an evening with some friends on Soi Eric is good to! Rock on Nicke!

Head down Bangla Rd from the beach and it's above Soi Easy first on your left. And don't you dare ask where Bangla Rd is !

Cheers Jaws - I won't ask, Bangla is the one street name that I do know!
Hey Michel - no offense taken But I have to tell you - I'm one of those guys that doesn't know the names of streets in my own neighbourhood let alone Phuket!!!
I lived in Bangkok for over a year and I only know around 4 street names there. Silom, Sathorn, Henri Dunant and whats the long one? oh yeah Sukhumvit
I figure that I've been to LOS around 50 times? (Although at one period I was going around 5 times a year on business - but I still managed to fit in plenty of 'leisure' time.)
Tell you what though, I think an FAQ is a great idea, especially for wallies like me that don't focus on anything long enough to learn their names

To driv
If your planning to visit captain kirks and that's in Soi Easy then the dragon entertainment is above that. i did not see it in november because it was built after i left but i do like a game of pool with a drink and being surrounded by loads of thai birds is a extra bonus im sure that's on my list to visit in april.
To butterflyblond about scooby's bar was that the bar that was called bryans bar before because when i was there in november he had just bought it the week i left and he had an opening night. the funny thing was i tried to find some one from that bar and he didn't know what bargirls did work at his bar.there is also another english bar in Soi eric at the top near the go go place, nice owner and has some nice birds there as well.
as for driv as your a regular to los you know that all you have to do a have a walk. most bars have great girls, and everyone has a different taste and i don't mean ladyboy's but the way the girls look.
don't forget to take lot's of photo's anyway.

Yeah cheers Baz
I'll tell you what tho'
A newbie FAQ is the dogs bollo* - as I said before - I have no idea what the street names are - even after all the time I've been travelling.
All the usual names crop up on maps
- like
Bangla - gonzo - eric
but strangely enough (and although I've almost certainly been to all of them!!!!!!!!!!!)
you don't tend to see sansabai - tiger -easy etc etc on tourist maps.
As I say - I'm sure I've been to many, if not all of them, but I'm not a cartographer
Heh heh - 2 weeks to go
d.

Hi Baz , yes you are quite right , it became a bit of a running joke , Rik and Alan , owners of the bar are newbies to the business and Alan (bald head) kept telling me 1 minute a batch of girls turn up , next night they dissapear , it was fustrating him but at least he saw the funny side of it , hopefully he will have things more under control when i return , bit its worth a visit for english guys , because both of them are decent guys and a good laugh

To butterfly blonde
rik or alan i do not know who i was taking to but if they are new to the game i hope they have got it under control because the price he paid for the bar seemed a bit to dear to me but split two ways maybe it's ok.
see you

Great journalism Geespot , always amazes me how fast the patong grapevine travels ...haha , i did know about the 3rd guy but i never met him anytime i visited the bar , dont even know his name .
Regarding price Baz, Alan did tell me he paid over the odds for it and he knew that from the start , but that was the price quoted and the seller would not budge , he looked at many bars first but decided on that one for the main reason of the location , after all Soi Eric is THE place to be right ??

Hi Butterfly
You probably do know 3rd guy, Im sure you do????
They bought the bar off Bryan (Scottish) same as me, I heard the price on the grapevine, don't want to say other than it was so cheap I cannot believe it. A bar contract for 3 years at the moment is 7 figures, e.g. a big bar in Tiger your talking 2,000,000 baht, thats excluding assets.
nough said - saying that the price I heard made me very sceptical, especially after what I paid!!!
best regards
