BKK hotels
Ok gents i know the is a thread already for Bangkok , but i was wondering if any of you know of a good but safe/secure Hotel in Bangkok at reasonable rates.
I have already looked at the Nana hotel and the Ambassador hotel , but i was wondering if any of you have one that you can recommend.
It really will only be used as a room to much base with etc .
your thoughts please.

Ambassador
Eic
I am staying at the Ambassador on March 18th to 22nd. I got a Delux Double room in the Tower wing (21st Floor) for THB 1900. The standard room was about THB 1000 but I wanted the view! No breakfast, but I note they are doing a three for four night offer at present.
I will tell you what it was like when I get back. They have many hundreds of rooms so I guess they won't be full...

Dynasty Inn right next door to Nana. Have stayed there many times, and never encountered any problems.
Indra-Regent is an OK hotel, but too far from the action.

Manhattan has some major construction work going on at the moment. Woke me up at 6am every morning (Not good considering I didnt get to sleep until 5am). Royal Parkview was very very nice and contrary to some reports it IS geust friendly. Other suggestions would be the slightly pricey Majestic suites, the swiss hotel and the ambassador (tower wing).

Sawthorn Villa or Chinatown Hotel are both great. Around 600 baht per night too.

In May 2003 I stayed at the ambassador hotel 1200 baht for a double room.
Hotel lobby looks very great, but rooms are less nice but more than ok for me because it's just to sleep and ...., take shower and watch tv for a few hours.
It's quite close to Patpong and very close to Sukhumvit. Next time I'll go back it's certainly going to be Ambassador again.

Hi Eric,
Try this site http://bangkoktonight.com/hotels/guest_friendly.shtml
I've stayed at both the Grand President and the Majestic suites. You pay around 1800-1900 / night.
I'll be back at the Majestic Suites again in April/May 1865/night inclusive of taxes. Room are clean and kept daily, in room safe, and backs onto nana plaza. Not huge in size, similar to C&N, and has no pool. But location is great. BG not a problem. Between 2 skytrain stations. 20baht to Patpong or 60baht with taxi. Soi Cowboy also down the road.
The Grand President is on Soi 11, stayed in a Topaz suite. Has everything you need, but it's a short walk to nana plaza. Very short. Clean and well kept. BG no problem. I think I payed 1760/night.
Have stayed at the Montien across the road from Patpong. Nice hotel but the will stiff you 1100/night for a BG (each). Won't be back there again. But location can't be beat.
If you want to stay at Patpong there is a guest house right on it. Wall Street Inn. I'm not sure whether it's guest friendly. But definately worth a look http://www.sawadee.com/bangkok/wallstreet/
Cheers

I was there with a Thai girl from Phuket who recommended this hotel.
I just stayed two nights over there after flying in from Koh Samui to fly back to Europe.
I do not remember clearly but I think there was a safety box in the room.
I do not know anything about any joiner fees, because the room was booked on her name too.
