Thara Patong
Is Thara Patong still guest friendly? If not is there a joiner-fee now or is guest just not aloud to enter the hotel?
Hope that somebody can help I have already made a booking for Marts and now I have read that they have a new guest policy.

If i was you i would be brave and either email or call the hotel and ask them outright if they will allow you to have a thai ''girlfriend'' stay with you for no extra charge , if you have not put a deposit down for the hotel and they say sorry no guests then cancel and book somewhere else like the C & N .
In the past when i have booked online , i make it clear of my intentions in an email to the hotel and find i get no problems at all as a result of doing this , hope this advice helps ..have a good trip

I have always found the Thara to be very liberal concerning overnight guests if you have indeed booked a double room. However, I have noticed on the web some chaps saying that the hotel would now appreciate a 600 baht fee. Very strange as I would have thought the breakfast worth much less than that.
I am putting a guest up at the Thara in a couple of weeks so will advise further. I should add that I will not be stabled at the Thara myself.

Thanks guys
I will cancel the booking.
If Thara not the place to stay anymore, what will be the best alternative? I am looking for a mid-rang, guest friendly hotel, with nice rooms and a good pool with night access, located not that fare from the action. My budget is about 3-4.000B a night. Probably asking for too much but I hope that somebody can help me.

C & N hotel is a good choice if you want guest friendly but no pool , i dont bother with pools myself because thats what the beach is for , but you could try the valhalla ...its is guest friendly and has pool

Thara is guest friendly. I send an Email asking and this is the answerer:
“ The overnight visitor are FREE of charged but if your guest wants breakfast you have to pay an extra at 200 Baht per person.”
So I am going to stay in Thara after all I like to have the pool just one step out of my terrace door for some night “swimming”, but for my next tour I well tray the Salathai Hotel it looks graet.

To erlik
I stayed at thara patong a few years ago and it was guest friendly.
I only stayed there because it was my first trip to los and my friends i was with were married so no action for them. The rooms are ok but for the extra 3000baht a night just for having a pool in the hotel is crap. All the other trips i've had are in the 1000baht range with no pool, more money to spend on the girls and drink. must hotels in patong are only 10minutes walk to the beach. When you stay at the thara if a thai girl is at the pool with you all you get is the farang couples looking at you and you know what there thinking. As for rooms there is better in other hotels with no pool anyway and could save you any hassle if you go to hotel you know is very guest friendly.
good luck anyway
and do not forget to give us a full report

It could be that I am being a bit thick ...... but are the prices listed per day or per week. Most of these site dont seem to say. I have seen on the site that you can get a better deal for a long term stay. I intend to stay for at least 4-6 weeks so where is the best place for a nice aircon double room that is guest friendly.
Cheers in advance,
Oggy.

Blimey Oggy you dug up a real old thread here
The rates posted are the daily rate unless specially noted.
If you check out the Accomodation section there are lots of recommendations for the type of room you are looking for.
Personally you won't go far wrong with Patong Villa, which is guest friendly
www.patongvilla.com
Send an email to info@patongvilla.com and ask for a quote for a long term stay.
