LOS 1st timer
My brother is planning a holiday in Thailand in a couple of weeks time; travelling solo for 2 weeks.
His suggested itinery is as follows
Spend the 1st 4nights in chiang maii then fly to
Phuket for 6 nights then fly to bkk
Bkk - final 3 nights then return to sunny england.
Its his first visit to Asia so looking to get a general taste.
Looking for a variety of experiences - eg.culture, adventure, beach.
How does this look. Where else should he go? what have we missed out.
any help much appreciated.
thank you.

Two weeks isn't a lot of time when he will be having fun.
Myself, I would prefer to stay in the one place for a little longer, rather than wasting time at airports etc...
I would probably drop one of those destinations altogether myself... Hard one to call. I definitely recommend Phuket.
His schedule looks doable, but only just IMO. Maybe drop one of those nights in BKK? CM is worth seeing I hear too... I haven't been yet.

Pad, I have done just that last week.
I stayed in bangkok for one night wich is enough if you just want to see hwat its like. Chaing mai has a lot of things to do and see. I stayed there for 4 days then off to phuket. The only thing I would say is that it is a lot of airport sitting !

as the guys said.his first trip to los.......he should just stay in the one place.....he will ending up spending to much time travelling to the other places and it will probably amount to 1 day of his hols.........
if its beacheshe is looking for he shud fly straight to phkt.enjoy his 10 days and then fly back to bangers for the last 2 nites and there he can go visit the temples.floating markets and the royal palace..

If he7s in to the chang mai vibe then do it, but personally I prefer the light and space of the ocean, drop CM and boat to island from Phuket, Phi Phi for example. More fun/experience oversea than at the airport IMO

I agree three places may be too much, however, I thing two is good. I have never been up north, so I cannot speak to Chang Mai. Also Bangkok is good for a few days +/-. Maybe Bangkok for 4 days, then Phuket for the rest. Again the only reason I am not including Chang Mai is because I have never been there.

I have to concur w/ most of the above. No need to spend four days in Chiang Mai. I was there for three in January and didn't find the city to be all that interesting. I'm not sure if it's seasonal but the air quality was pretty marginal as well.
I would spend more time relaxing on the many beaches of phuket but also leave time for bangkok ( which I really enjoy).

Ouch, so much to see, so lil time.
Guess he will just have time for all the tourist stuff.
I guess this way, he will decide where he wants to stay longer on the next trip.
