Hi Everybody
This is my shedule in June Going to Singapore June 4 and stay there to June 6 (Will meet Bafana there to)and then go to Bangkok and probeley stay there to june 12 and then go to phuket and stay there to june 21 and then go home again,, Nicke Have you any new t-shirt i'am going to buy some hotshot again  Peter Last edited by blixten : 30-03-2004 at 03:17.

I will be in Asia 11april - 18july and spend about
3 x 3 weeks in Patong. First time from 18april... But, I guess Iīm still not welcome to MTB... So I have to se some of you (even Nicke) in other fun spots. As allways after I sold my apt. I will stay in Valhalla FFF

New to this forum,
Very much enjoyed reading the excellent chat. So, gettn ready for 4th visit, have good mates down in Kata but had thhhheee most boring trip with the wrong combination of 'friends' last Nov. So looking to enjoy a more 'normal' short hol. this time. Previously headed straight to Kata, this time thinking of spending couple of nites in Patong first. Any recommends on best (hassle free, all mod cons, BG friendly) accom much appreciated. Will be doing my best to head for MTB on the Sat nite once bed sortd. No black death though! Would rather drink my own sock water! Or preferably very large JD. Address of nearest Pharmacy for little blue D's would save some time & much appreciated. 1-3rd May 3-7th (Similans, not sure have enegry for it - will be 3rd trip!) 8-10th back for more then depart 10th Any top tips (since couple of years since properly hit the bars) Shark Club was still open last time I was out & about!! Last I heard was called the 'puckered starfish' and about too shut-down

Col, I absolutely LOVE Kata Beach, but have never stayed there. Could you please tell me more about what you liked, didn't like, about Kata? I'd like to learn more about the place as I've never stayed there longer than a few hours and always 100% of the time at the beach.

Well,
OK (for me) Kata Centre is 'busi-er'. Kata Beach bit further on (2 ins by car - 20 walking) quieter, but good place to take a break. Few good bars. Mee Bar, excellent host, good company, tends to be young local expat crowd working in Phuket. Best time to visit definately during Kings Cup. Early December as all the yacht crews and associated corporate & local groupies decend - good parties and BIG late nites. Some very good cheap accomodation and every type of food from excellent Thai to full-on Italian wood oven Pizzas. Kevan & Chantal at Phuket Scuba (opposite Ma's BoatHouse) run excellent dive school and have answers to any Q's you mignt have. Patong is 15 mins and 300/500 Bhat away, so can be best of both worlds. Easy Rider (Kata Centre) is a good nite out in high season with pretty decent band that will play most any request you like - mainly down to cheers or boos when you shout what you want to hear next. Kata Centre has more bars and is sort of in-between when it comes to late nites, bars but no clubs. Only draw back (for me) is easy to get very comfy/well accepted locally, then can be a bit parochical and when on holiday Ii don't really have time for other people's problems/local issues or their opinions on what you (or others) may or may not be spending your time doing. But that said it's no big deal just don't offer an opinion when the local-*****n starts and keep your own plans 'your own' (if that makes any sense). All in all its a pretty good place to stay for relaxing, chillin out and planning trips to local Islands, diving & beach is pretty good. Home from home sort of place bit like the bar in 'Cheers' I guess. That's about it. Hope it helps?? Col

Col, that's informative. Not quite sure where you were going in the first part of your last paragraph, but think I got it (mostly). I'll have to stop by Kata Centre sometime just for a look round. Didn't known of its existence prior to now.

Soz, was late & had been trying to catch up on some work then got bored so was reading a few mails instead. Should probably waited until the morning proper. Was simply trying to think of any draw-backs to the place and there aren't any really. So, only things I could think back to was a feeling that (on a few ocassions) it did feel so local that you'd hear all the gossip - local expats sharing their problems with colleagues, friends, partners or you as a tourist in terms of what you should/shouldn't do with your time! But that I guess is simply part of being warmly accepted by people & that they feel you're OK enough to share their thoughts with. Which is a compliment, but a bit awkward that's all. Anyway, if you head down to Kata Beach into Mee Bar or have a beer with Kev & Chantal at Phuket Scuba you'll be sorted.

Col, no need to apologize. Now I completely understand what you were saying. IF I can make it back soon, I'll look for Kev and Chantal at Mee Bar, or was it Phuket Scuba? I'll figure it out. One thing I certainly intend to follow-up on during my next trip is spending a bit more time with the many cool farangs I meet in Phuket. All too often I bump into interesting and friendly people, but never follow-up to meet them at their favorite bar, etc. Bit like how most of us are everyday back in Farangland, I suppose. Not good; time for a change!

Werwolf you listed me 14 august until 21 august. It seems its impossible for me to visit patong at this time.
But the sure thing is my trip after christmas: Arriving 24 december (24 - 26 december BKK 26 - 28 Hua Hin 28 dec - 5 january 2005 Patong (could be longer time) Back home 31 march
