a bit of a treat
Mango sauce has posted links to the classic 1998 louis theroux documentary about thai introduction agencies. It`s broken in to 6 parts on youtube.
Whatever you think about Loius, (and his insinuations - `14 years old, naturally hairless`, etc), this is a real gem.
Some interesting characters are unleashed, from the sleazy intro guy, to the over enthuisiatic intro guy, to the punter on his angry pills.
Cringe in empathy as their thai girl dates try to cope with their embarrasment.
Enjoy!
I do have to confess that this documentary did originally spur me to investigate LOS - and to reject the idea of intro agencies.

with desperation oozzzing from every pour he scored heavely on the cringrometer, poor sod. the 2 long haired girls that louis rejected were very cute though. thanks for posting clip info

I used to love the Loius wierd weekends and other ones he made.. Something about his nieve innocence and sort of bravery at throwing himself into it (that swingers party, the porno auditions, etc) that worked..
The Jimmy Saville one where Jimmy was all weird up late at night going on about tieing some guy up etc..

louis,nieve innocence ??

I agree Livinlos, I've watched lots of his documentries, and enjoy his style,I somtimes wonder about the nieve innocence, I think its more often than not a clever technique that works brilliantly. Quite often he interviews media savy subjects (victims) who under nomal circumstances would be very much on the back foot and stay there, louis with his ernest compassion, non threatening and non judgementle approach seems to disarm them to the point where they say and do things I'm sure they regret later.
His bravery is not in doubt though, his docs on the white supremasists in the USA and his job on Eugene Tereablanch in south Africa were very good.
BE LUCKY FELLAS!!

Yeah I agree, I think that much of that may have been a cultivated approach based on his own persona.. His early series (which was the wierd weekends IIRC) showed it could work for him, then he hones the style on more media savvy types.
But I still love the way he will throw himself into things with little fear of embarrassing himself.. I have always liked and respected people who dont value others opinions or dont worry how they appear too much. Lois has a way of being simultaneously nerdy, gawky, shy, awkward, and not especially charismatic yet appears to have some deep self confidence to just do things on camera and let the world see who he is without fear.
He really has a way of showing new sides to people not only negative ones.. I always thought Eubanks the boxer was a total nob jockey but the Lois docu on him showed him in a totally new light.. The same could be said for many of the people hes covered.
Also gets my interest being the son of Paul Theroux who writes with such an open and personal way..

Thanks for posting this.I remember watching this when it was shown first and I enjoyed watching it again.
Lake Palmer is a legend.Loved the bit where the agency guy tried to say something when he was on a roll talking to his first 'date'........''LEAVE IT''
Priceless stuff.
