Unhappy Elections in December

The General Election and voting will now be held in December 16th or 22nd, so just as we are all preparing for fun in the sun and Christmas Holidays, what do the Thai's do.......

close all the bars and hold a General Election

so look forward to spending a few days in the Restaurants during the busiest time of the year.

Regards

Drew

I hope the dates are fixed, and nothing much happens prior to the elections.

Thumbs down Closing days

They closed us down the evening before and all the election day twice last time.

Also Patong carried out additional ones the same month and wiped out even more days.

Wink December

You really have to wonder why the middle of the High Season was chosen as a date for the ''Erection''.

Where is the logic, will it be that more people are working in Tourism so have more chance to vote as they are not back in their village, or it will give a good impression to Tourists when they visit and see people well behaving as bars are closed, or is it that they really haven't given it much thought and just picked a date at random

who knows

I have done a Google search for ''Thai Logic'' and the laptop just keeps crashing 'Error search not known''

Regards

Drew

actually, i believe they have to vote in the province they are from
so a girl from Isaan can not vote in Phuket
I am pretty sure that is correct

You are right , and not many Thais involved in the 'tourist industry' (BG's , hotel staff etc) would travel home just to vote.

Ah

Ah so

Thanks for that.

Maybe they know what they are doing then.

Maybe it has been chosen then at this time so that a lot of people who can vote will be away working at peak season in the Hotels.

Anyway I hope it is 16th not 22nd, as I will be landing on 21st and don't want to spend the first day with the town closed down.

Regards

Drew
