According to BKK Post:

"Tougher penalties are being sought to deter drunk driving and are likely to go into force by year-end, said Probation Department director-general Wanchai Rujanawong.

He said the proposed amendments raise jail terms for drunk drivers to one year from three months and fines to 20,000 baht from 10,000 baht."

How come there does not seem to be many, if any Police on duty on the roads at night, when the vast majority of drivers are driving under the influence??? I never see any road blocks or stop checks on the way home to Kamala.

Take extreme care over song gran.. Not only are the roads much more dangerous but they usually have a fairly serious crackdown over those dates and the chances of a real problem for drink driving becomes more likely..

I agree with LIL, then next 7 days you need to be really careful in every respect while driving.

Yep thats why I posted it ATM - but the penalties here they are considering are not a bad as those in the thread you found last month. Looks like things still up in the air.
