Tom Yam Kung Restaurant
After popping in to see Tatia Young at Junceylon last night we made our way down to TYG Restaurant, its owned by a new BM, Yuichi and is on beach road almost next door to Saxophone Bar near Rock City.
It specialises in Thai food, a small menu but good choices, only farang food is 4 spaghetti dishes and if I was to make a constructive critisism then would suggest he adds a steak dish and perhaps one chicken one for the farang market, as in a party of 4 or 6 there will always be one person who does not like to eat Thai food.
Decor and seating very nice, service was very good and guess what, we ordered starters and main courses and the starter came first and together and was followed about 5 minutes after we finished it by the three main courses, quite unheard of in Thailand!!!
Oli had chicken cashew nut, Gee had (cant tell you cos I was supposed to look after Alex and I'm typing this, so she won't tell me now) and I had Penaeng curry, all three dishes were very tasty, presented well and my curry was spot on, just the right amoiunt of chilli for a weedy englishman.
Yuichi, is a new board member (think his board name is TYG) but makes regular visits to head office (MTB), is a very interesting guy, born in Japan, spent most of his life in France, speaks very good English with a little sacre bleu and oh la la chucked in.
My advice, if you like Thai food, then pop down and give it a try, its worth a visit. Build it into a alternative Bangla night by then going on to Saxophone Bar and Rock City and fininshing off with a visit to the new Lime Night Club. We didn't try out Lime, but I will do after my next time there which will not be long!!

BM's Eating hand-book!
Dodger, as you are coming quite a critical master of food establishments, and lets face it, have quite a lot of time on your hands from time to time. I think you should put together a little guide book for for us less experienced BM's.
Just a simple review of most restaraunts around Phuket, that can be sold for a small profit from bm's bars and restaraunts.
Just an idea, as I find the ones on offer very badly written or a poor selection of reviews. (Or written by the venue, themselves)
Or would that break your permit conditions?
