hotel booking?

hi all

can anyone tell me if you can walk in to a guest friendly hotel ( or non gust friendly) in patong and get a room, or is it advised to prebook beforhand?

also, sorry but ive never been to los yet, as you may have guest but i was wondering does it get dark eairly in los in any months like here in the uk in the winter time or is it daylight till late all year round?

Okay..my best advice to give you would be to leave things until you get to Patong and pay the walk-in rates (often much cheaper than the rack rates and even the internet rates). This is unless you are going peak time (Dec/Jan). Hotels in Patong have a great knack of appearing to be in demand (and therefore charge high prices even in low season) when in actual fact they are half full/empty. If the walk in rates are high in a hotel that you really like when you get there then use a fall back plan by walking to a nearby internet cafe and booking the same hotel online and walk back to the hotel you liked and get the price you want using your internet booking. Has worked for me for 3 years now. Generally it gets dark between 7 and 9pm.
