Phuket

After I 12 years of travelling to Thailand I finally made it to Phuket. Stayed at the Summer Breeze for a week and had a great time. Every day I would go to a new beach in the morning and they were much, much better that I expected.
Nightlife? Well, I knew it wasn't going to be like Pattaya, but there was plenty of action for a simple guy like me.
I have found a new favorite place in Thailand.

Glad that you enjoyed your trip to Phuket. The beaches are great, really makes a nice day just hanging out sitting at the beach.

Stop in at MTB next time and get to know Nicke and Ead and some other BM's. Good place to start the night.

Since I came to patong the first time, I really can't see myself going anywere else. I just love the place !

Which other places are you comparing to?

I am comparing to the Ko Samui/Ko Tao-area and the islands of Pattaya Ko Samet and Chang. I will even put Boracay in the Philippines in there. Now, some of theses places have beaches equal or maybe slightly better than Phuket, but then they fall way behind in other areas (nightlife, price level, selection of restaurants...).

One thing that really surprised me was how quiet some of the beaches in Phuket was. Sure there were other people around but it was far from crowded when I went to Kata Noi or Nai Harn beach. Also far less jetskis or beach hawkers than I expected.

Keep in mind I was there in late April. I imagine things are slightly different i high season.

If beaches are a big thing for you, Phuket has a lot to offer.

If you want to try a step up in night life and a step down in prices you may want to try Pattaya, however, the beach there sucks to say the least.
