Advice please on being a nice farang

Times change, opinions too. On my many trips to LOS I've never been sure exactly how to present myself as a really nice guy. What should a farang do, wear and say in order to be acceptable to both Thai and other farangs?

For instance: should I continue wearing calf length socks with shorts and sandals?

Should I always ring the bell whenever I enter a new bar?

Should I complain about everything or not?

Should I pay BFs or lurk in the shadows till the bars close?

Must I eat food that burns my tongue and gives me the runs?

These questions and many more have been keeping me awake nights while I plan for my next trip. Your informative input would be most helpful.
BTW, I am not a troll, must I also be a troll in order to elicit your humorous comments?

Little confused by your last comment. You want real answers or sarcastic ones?

It's not bermuda so you don't need long socks to be polite. Or any for that matter. Aside that just do what is polite in your country. Basically when I see someone being an ass, I know they wouldn't be acting the same back at home.

If spicy food makes you uncomfortable, don't eat. Just order a bunch of sour food and what the thais make funny faces

BF or lurk. If you're strapped for cash, then beggars can't be choosers. Spend your night at the 50baht beer bar and wait till 3am to start looking for Sansabai leftovers.

Ring the bell if you want to meet guys. Buy a whack of LD if you want to meet girls.

Complain...if you are a newbie then doubt it will even cross your mind to complain. You'll suffer from an overload of joy. Only complain if you want to fake being a burnt-out expat

They're good socks, Adidas copies, grey.

My tattoo is an ode to LOS in Thai script, on my forehead. Is this wrong? I paid a bundle for it in Hamburg and they guaranteed it won't wash off.

P.S. ATM, how can I acquire this burnt out expat look you mentioned and is this currently in fashion?

i'm knocking out a line of lovely white socks just now. genuine polyester, none of yer rubbish. let me know when you're over and I'll put a pair to one side for you.
your tattoo is in thai ? how is girl from iissaan going to understand it ? I think you should get something in Lao on the back of your neck, just to even things up. never know might improve your chances.
not that you''l need any luck once you're sporting the latest in hi-static foot apparel.

On the subject of socks....... I hope that your sandals are the in vogue "Jesus" type, with the ring around the big toe!!!
If so, you are going to need my exclusive line of toe socks that snuggle each toe individually and come in a variety of flouro colours and stripes!!!!!!
Do not accept any imitations!!!!
If you want that burnt out expat look...... just imagine how it would feel if someone just stole your last bowl of soup!!!!!
I am sure someone on the board could give you some pointers!!!!!!
Going up to strange bars and whinging about the price of soup(that you never got to taste) to all the girls, may get you a sympathy fcuk............... but don't hold your breath!!!!!!!
