UK Thai support groups

Hi,
in the course of my job I have just met a Newly wed Thai lady. This lady speaks only a little English and seems to be depressed. I know that she has just had a baby and her husband has said that she has the baby blues but does not seem to want to help her. He also seems like a bit of a violent prick.

I would not normally even think about getting involved but I would like to help if I can. So if any of you know of a Thai support group in London that I can give to them to contact it would be a weight off my mind.

I really dont think she has any contact with any other Thais and I dont think that she goes out of the house much.

Thanking you in advance.

Oggy.

Sorry to hear of your thai woman friend. Its sounds as though you are a caring person. She needs that more than anything.Thai woman or men going to support groups dealing with family matters,is not something common.Keep up your support of her and her current misfortune. Here in america if there is something thats not right and bothersome ,we have what we call an old stlye ass kicking, maybe catch him coming out of his residence in the a.m.,or leaving a late night watering hole, and drop an ass kicking. This of course in a last alternative ,when speaking to him falls on deaf ears.Good luck to you and this friend of yours who does not,i repeat DOES NOT desearve to be mistreated.

I have been thinking about what I posted, and the more I think the more I am sure he is a bit too handy if you get my meaning. He is about 48ish and she is 25 and just through conversation with him I really do feel he is a bit of a control freak. Myself and my work colleagues feel that he does not like us to have any contact with her (Whole new can of worms) even when we suggested that a female workmate make a appointment.

This is this guys second family and he seems totally unable to get involved with the baby. Seems like he is on a really short fuse and all my workmates have made several comments about this. Whilst I have this gut feeling that tells me somethings not quite right I have no real evidence.

you may want to try asking in the forum here: Thailand-UK Community - Powered by eve community

It also looks as though they also organise thai get togethers.

Oggy,

The annual Thai food festival is coming up in Battersea Park in July maybe she could suggest going there and mix with other Thais they might be able to offer alternatives. My wife has been here now for some time and there are a lot of Thais around i am sure if she went there she would enjoy it
