I have the same problem with getting Mekong in Finland, but I have found a good substitute. It's called Huracan Carta Blanca. Don't have the same color, but taste the same when you mix it with coke

The most famous balloon chaser drink ever, ha,ha. The good thing is that the balloon chasers will not live as long as others because of drinking that shit

Sang-sso and Ross-som are two new girlie drinks we are working on here at the Grapery. If they are passed by the local authorities, (We've been to the Bank) and we can get the bottle design right (Thinking flowers and a stomach pump design) they will be available at a bar near you soon.

.5Ltr and 1Ltr bottles around the 30-45 Baht price range.

See you in a storm ditch soon.

This is not a joke this time

My whiskey supplier told me to be carefull with Sang som and Mekhong as its made from leftovers from other cleaner spirits....It's really unhealthy stuff and can be compared with the home-made spirits that is a big business in Scandinavia and North-eastern Europe

If you look at the previous link you will see that the top of the range Sangsom has, as well as "special herbs and spices" a top up off special alcohol from their distillery - read ethanol or worse. Maybe it's liquid KFC?

Sangsom has a better (?) effect than Mekhong because its 80+ proof.
It was also used in flame throwers so DO NOT smoke around Sangsom Special.

It's called whisky because Lum sounds like a BG.

DO NOT try the good old " Blue Flame" party trick after drinking Sangsom Lum unless you have been swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool.

Alright - by popular demand - 1st call for nominations for:

The Blue Flame Contest.

hello
Sangsom, the difference between ABV and proof. Sangsom is 80% proof, which I think should give it an ABV of around 43% (although Sangsom’s ABV is said to be 40%)so the effect is same same Mekhong

spirits and its social uses

thai spirits and social uses imho, just some thoughts

regency= for trying to impress the guests (make face, you can afford more than sang som/mekong)

sang som= when you go to the upcountry karaoke with the local coppers/nak leng

mekong= when your broke,or your motorcycle has broken down and you cant be bothered walking to the local shop.

lao khao= when the wifes grandfather comes to visit and other auspicious events eg weddings, funerals, wifes little brother becomes a monk for a week or two, its january and its cold at 0630.

100 pipers when you and the gang go to the local disco (girl sees the farang with 100 pipers whisky and his thai motorcycle mechanic friends and the farang is obviously a good catch)

johnny walker (the small bottle), the local school principal comes to ask the mia farang for a donation of 500bt for the school sports.

any decent alcohol (keep out of sight of all locals)
