Taking the Wife to Phuket

As the topic states, I will taking my wife to Phuket this May. My question is besides the beach where can I take her in Phuket? The problem is all the time i've been to LOS, be it Phuket or Bangkok its just been bars and boom-boom. Any advice given will be appreciated...

Thanks.

Cool What a Dilemma.

Hi Jo2

Plenty of places to go. The Zoo is ok for a half day. There are the trips to phi phi or Krabi to take which are a full day. There are also other small islands in andaman bay to visit. There is the general checking out the sites by making your own way around the island and stopping where and whenever you fancy. There is also the department stores in Phuket city and the lotus and big c between patong and phuket city. You will just find things to do then you spend the day out and about, go back near base in the afternoon and find somewhere nice to have dinner then end up having a few drinks around the bars and then get ready to start all over again the next day, no problems. cheers have fun!

Cool

Hi,

I can recommend Kamala ... Quiet and nice beach. There is not so much nightlige but it's just 7 km away from Patong where you can make shopping to buy clothes, souvenirs .... (200 bath with tuk-tuk)

There are many good restaurants.

You can go to Phuket Fantasea (I thought it was too touristic but it's a wonderful show), to Phang Nga Bay (sea caves are a really beautiful place where you go with boat and canoe) ... so much things to do in Phuket.
I have been there with my girlfriend for my 2 first trips and she enjoyed a lot.

We staid also 3 days in Bangkok : very noisy and busy, but you can see Royal palace, temples. It was a very good experience.

Enjoy your trip.

Guys,
Thanks for the input... I would defintely do the tourist thing and go to Fantasea and and maybe even Simon's Cabaret...

As for the Island trips (eg. Phi-Phi or James Bond Island) isnt it rainy and thunderstorm season currently in Phuket? Do they still ferry people out to the islands in thunderstrom conditions?

Cool no problem

Hi jo2

well I have been around that time of year and it seems that the weather is going to be better of the island than on so I think you will be fine going to phi phi and the others. last year we went while it had been pouring down in phuket and we come back with sun burn. So you should take that as you wish. cheers.

James Bond Island

I went on the aeroplane to Phi Phi and that was a lot of fun although you have to pick it up at Phuket airport. It cost about THB 7000 each.

The restaurants at Kamala are really very good and a better environment perhaps as there is not so much obvious boum boum.

Diving is a good option if the sea is not too cloudy and quite adventurous and of course there is now a submarine and a bungy jump!

If you want a more sedate deal then there are also some fantastic cliff walks around the bay area and the lighthouse is a "must see" too.

Yep, there is plenty to do apart from boum boum, but somehow I never seem to find the time! Hope you really enjoy it.
