Type it together (quicker than opening up the box of avatars) and you get

Bad morning Andy! Personally I don't mind them...just like anything else new, it takes a little time.

And Cappy if you don't like more choice than before, then do not include smilies in your posts, simple.

The old ones is not gone, they are still available. And no, they are not standard vbulletin smilies either. Was a package I installed maybe 2 years ago.
They are however free for everyone to use,

The smilies with the same name as the old ones were over written, and no longer available. Just a few ones I guess.

Its like that with old people! scared of anything new!!
My friends grandma for example, she has been sitting by her kitchen table, staring out the window and complaining at anything new for 10 years now.

Some of the new ones are cool but some are crap...When i joined here a year or so ago the 'old' ones were very easy to understand their meaning....

Several of the smilies that were overwritten are still available and are only a mouse-drag away. Go "Advanced" and make sure the Editor Mode is set so that graphics can be displayed.
Below the edit area are a number of "Post Icons" from the old library, simply click and drag anyone you like into the edit area.
Examples:
:D used to be and is now
:) used to be and is now
;) used to be and is now
:( used to be and is now
