Going To Bangkok Clubs Alone Rca , Ratchada ?????

Ill be in Bangkok soon again and have become tired of some of usual hotspots in BKK . Ive been meaning to head to RCA , and Ratchada where a lot of the thai students etc etc hang out and party.

Has any one been to RCA etc , ive heard nothing but good things about this and Ratchada , typically a younger crownd hang out there ive heard and they play music similar to London clubs .

Heres a couple of reviews

Royal City Avenue (RCA), Bangkok - VirtualTourist.com

My question is .... I will be travelling alone so i dont really have anyone to go with, Would it be a bit sad to go alone??? I was thinking im sure to meet some people there just by striking up a conversation or 2. I am kinda keen on checking these places so i may just bit the bullet and do it ..

Also i heard in these places you buy a bottle of whisky and you dont have to pay entry ? true ?

Thanks

Tas

This sounds like the perfect gig for Alfie 5555
Buy him a beer or a bowl of soup, and he will accompany you.

Seriously, PM Alfie, Im sure he'd be up for it.

A "down and out" pesterer. Living by his wits in BKK, trying to supplement his soup and beer by teaching English 555555

LOL, Sounds a bit like an Alfie scam. Pester you long enough for a beer and before you know it its a 25baht bowl of soup you are paying for as well.

Nah, Alfie is a sound guy................... for a Yorkshireman.

Some places are free entry, some have a cover charge...
By far the best place to go IMO is Slim and Flix... One side Hip Hop and 1 side house. Although HipHop isnt my cuppa, there is a really good atmosphere there...
Ratchada, wouldnt really advise going alone, unless you want be be alone possibly most of the night, not many falangs in this area, unless you speak Thai of course... But is a good place also, but you do really need to know where to go if you are going to Ratchada

I was thinking of going to Slim as ive heard good things about it , Does it have acover charge ? I like hip hop so i may well like that place ... How much is like a bottle of whisky ?

As for ratchada , my thai is much to be desired i can ask a girl a few things answer a few things etc etc , but thats as far as i goes for now , i may well take a thai freind to ratchada i ws thinking about heading to Hollywood , may be very thai but at least it will be different ...

I doubt it will be bad as everyone staring at me because im an outsider surely ... i hope not Lol !!
Thanks

No point in going to either of these places alone IMO.
These are hangouts for Thai people who want to interact with other Thai people & not farangs. I have attended most of the places mentioned but always in the company of Thai girls and usually only for a hour or so because it soon gets boring. From what I remember Slim does charge for entry and it has two areas playing different types of music.

I can't help but notice your age too. That would be a big factor- the people that go there are gonna be mainly early 20s and interested in meeting people around the same age.

and who look like them (Thai) + who speak their language......these places are not often frequented by falang unless they are with a group of Thai friends....hence Pentire's advice....age is a lesser issue than being Falang outsider

I would suggest the Thai people who attend virtually every disco in Thailand are mostly early 20's so nothing new there.
Also I have observed young good looking farangs cruise around these places trying to pull a well healed Thai girl only to get the cold shoulder because she is there looking for or with a Thai boyfriend.
Very few Issan girls also in these joints more the lighter skin type I find.

I dont disagree with that statement either. Defo better if with locals.

However dont write it off if there's a couple of farang guys wanting to go alone. If they're young, fun, not obvious mongers then they'll most likely make a good few friends there as you would anywhere. It would be more difficult to do the same if a couple of 50yr olds rock up there and things like flashing the cash wouldnt work (or at least to the same extent) as it would do in places like Q Bar and perhaps Bed for example.

I have been to Forte in RCA with an old schoolfriend living in BKK. He is well known there as he is a regular customer and his Mia Noi worked there before (now she is "studying and driving her sponsored BMW to and from her sponsored condo).
Must say a lot of class, beautifull girls in there. Loved it. If I understood there are 3 groups of ladies working: staff/ hostesses, dancers, and showgirls/manequins just parading new clothes. Some of those girls are looking for a long time relation (longtime meaning husband or sponsor, house, car etc...).

Yeah thanks guys for some of the advice , im only 23 and well i like dancing having a good time etc etc so thats why i wanna hit some BKK clubs !

#I usually dont have problems making freinds thai or farang when im alone , i dont look typically farang either as im half malaysian so i look mixed thus i blend in better than a blatant farang (even though i am labelled a farang).

Im not looking to swoop on anyones girls but mabye strike up some conversations a bit of flirting and see what happens from there

Me and my mate normally go to 'normal' places- then, if all else fails you can just rock down to the Nana carpark at 3am

Win-win situation

jeeze.....that's a vast cultural chasm to jump......Ratchada to nana car park.....55555

I say go ahead and see what sort of time you have as well....I've enjoyed it in those spots myself after being taken by Thai friends......best in company as its lnoisy and the music is loud.......and if you are in falang company don't act like an asshole (being pushy with the gals) no matter whether you are younger or older....it won't get you anywhere but ostracised.....my experience is that Thais aren't as hung up on age as most westerners are....more on whether you seem like you have a good heart and enjoy sanuk

i've never ordered a spirit + mixer on its own at RCA but i doubt the bars would water it down that much. I've always bought a bottle and mixers and they do use a lot of mixer when pouring your drinks. this is because there is a higher profit margin on mixers and ice.

maybe this is why you've heard that they water down the drinks?

i always just top up my glass with more whiskey from the bottle after they've mixed it for me
