Not an “orphanage” per se, but there are also orphans being cared for by the foundation (for obvious reasons). I did some work for them awhile back, and they seemed very professional. Also supported by the local Rotary.
Drop them a line and I think they would be more than happy to receive toys.

orphange
In Phang Na about 2hrs north of Phuket is one run by a
Ms. Rotjana Phraesrithoung ( On ) ,it is Buddaist and most the childeren are survivors of tsunami .
Bringing toys from overseas is I think impractical (Imho) . Things can be eazily be bought in Thailand and saves the hassle of carrying. I have also found that giving toys are nice but the things they use daily are more helpful.
Get ahold of On and she will explain ,PM me and I can give you an email adress.

Toys toys toys.... what a western sense of mind to be honest. What about food, shelter, and clothes? Check out this site...

If I were poor, toys would be the last thing on my mind. Food and shelter and clean water would be much more important... maybe you forgot the feeling... Mister seven kids growing up in the projects... FFS!

Steve, the guy is just saying he wants to bring toys on his trip over in what would otherwise be empty suitcases...he's not an organisation with trucks and containers full of stuff or with resources I had when I had my 1-man crusade after the tsunami.
Derk, you have several options. Don't know of an orphanage in Patong itself but as Tanman says there's Childwatch which is in the Prince of Songkla University...or there is the Special Needs School head out of Patong over the hill down past Kathu to the junction where the Caltex garage is...turn right and the school is about 400 metres along on the left. You could also take toys to a Wat and the monks would give them out.
As a last resort, give toys to the bargirls who have kids...like nearly all of them! Good for scoring a few points and boosting your "good heart" status with them :-)
Believe me the kids would much rather have a toy than a 5gallon bottle of water as you can see from some of my pics>>>
BBC - Guernsey - Features - After The Tsunami
BBC - Guernsey - In Pictures - After the Tsunami Gallery
This is one of my cases on a trip out here>>>
This girl lost many members of her family in the tsunami :-(

ive seen many "poor" kids in Thailand.
just like most of the country, they seem to not go hungry
maybe getting some toys actually gives a little bit of a normal childhood to them
again, i just dont see why you would have to bring your negativity even into this thread, it is really not warranted

We all know that there are many different charity organizations. Everybody is free to do what he wants and can to help others.
I think the OP is making a real nice gesture! Well done.

You seem to have nothing better to do than be miserable to everything that anyone posts.
Some peoples generosity can extend to toys giving untold pleasure to kids that have no parents to afford them.
Having none yourself nor a partner either I can understand your ignorence however with 2 kids myself I know what they look forward to at birthdays and xmas and that is toys not food and water which we fortunately can always afford to provide.
The kids in Thailand always seem fed and well looked after for most and I think toys would be a great way to lighten the load on this kids with a bit of enjoyment, Not that you would know what that was stuck in your self servient life that you seem to have.

So, what everyone has seen in Thailand (and of course you are all experts) and it is now the benchmark, and not what goes on behind the scenes or in different places? Most people here are confusing generosity with altruism.
Do you give something to make you feel good or the person you are giving it to??? Like I have said before, toys are a Western mindset. Food, water and shelter save lives....
