Sad Story
I suppose this is the side of life you dont see all the time.
She must have been really desperate and at her wits ends.

Insane pressure from the parents.. Any wonder they end up in bars..
Last night (I think) on TV they had some vid camera of a guy doing a 3 floor jump onto concrete.. Didnt die amazingly.. That gets played over and over on repeats but the sight of someone with a cigarette gets blurred out !!

When I left the UK and moved to Sydney for a few months, I felt fine for a couple of days before really shitting it about what I'd done - no home, no friends, no family. I could honestly have cried at one point, and I'm a relatively experienced traveller in a place where nothing was particularly alien to me.
I simply can't imagine how these girls cope with such a change. I saw it the other night when me and a mate met up with these 2 girls, one who had literally just stepped off the bus from her village, had nothing and spoke no English. I gave her a little money and left.

Many bar girls have some sad stories but you never know if it's true or just a trick to get more money out of you.

And so will jumping off a bridge! 2 yrs ago whilst I was in LOS, a long-time friend of mine took a nose-dive from the Golden Gate Bridge. Very sad, indeed.
Oddly enough, last year his 70+ yr old father went to LOS his first time, for a brief holiday, met a girl, went back to the US, sold all his stuff, moved to LOS, married, had a heart attack, back to the US for treatment, and they let him bring his new TG bride in straight away, on account of his poor health.
Definitely not a case of like father, like son. I only wish his son had come to LOS with me, instead of staying and jumping off the bridge!

Its about 4 to 6 days money for a tourist. Unfortunately the parents obviously think their daughters can earn this sort of money in a very short time.
Given what the girls have to do and the fact they still have to pay for themselves I think its a big call for parents to be demanding such money.
These girls are lovely people no matter what there job is and don't deserve to be harrased by parents for money.
I agree Icebox, when I was a kid I asked my parents for money not the other way around. My parents would have been ashamed if asking me for money.
We do however have to understand that this is a different culture and the Thai people have struggled for a long time relieing on money from farming.
The advantge they have is the food is grown around the farms in Issan and they don't have to pay for that. From my understanding they eat from around the rice paddy. Having said all this what other needs do they have and why do they ask their children to provide for them when food is prolific around the town. It means big house save face. I would rather live in the gutter than have my daughter pay for a big house through prostitution.
When will these Mamasan wake up and stop putting their daughters through this shit
