Money Exchange.
Hi, yall.
May be a somewhat daft question, but will the Money exchange booths on Bangla handle Norwegian Kroner, thousand krone bills? I didn't really pay attention to their boards when I was there, just used c-card to get money from the "Stationary" ATM's. I should think they would, but before bringing a few thou, lets make sure.

Are these rates also the average rates which you get when you take your cash from the ATM?

Thanks K2.
ABN-Amro here charges € 2.25 per transaction, no matter how much you withdraw in one go. So about 1% for a standard 10K Baht withdrawel.

If your bank charges you too much in transaction fees, I would look into a new bank possibly. May be different in other place, but here in the states I find the larger banks to be more greedy for transaction fees. I belong to a small private bank that does not charge me any ATM fee what so ever. I used to belong to a large bank that would charge me $5/withdrawel outside of the states.

There are so many different ways banks can stiff you on charges and exchange rates its hard to give you a definitive answer (as you did not say which bank you were using) - also its not only your bank - the Thai ATM you use will also be passing charges to your bank.
To avoid charges altogether then as you say - bring cash, for a 2 week break that should not be so big a security issue as long as your room and/or hotel has a safe.
By and large the bigger banks, preferably with a presence in Thailand should offer better deal on exchange, also using an ATM in one of the big 4 Thai Banks (BKK Bank, Kasikorn Bank, Siam Commercial, Krung Thai) may limit charges.

Been to LOS three times and recently had TG in Perth for three months. Being a lazy shit and getting Mao often on all visits to LOS would use ATM's to access cash.
Just before TG went home noticed xchange rate in Perth money xchange shop was 29.9. Looked at the commonwealth bank offical xchange rate and it has been around the 23 mark over last three weeks.
TG took some aussie dollars with her and got 28 in Bangkok.
So definetly will be cash or travellers chqs next trip, unless any other suggestions, another example of greedy australian bank.

No you normally get the rate of exchange by your bank back at home they get as much out of you as possible.
