I haven't put this up in a while but the last post reminded me it's time...

forget about paying your home Mobile/Cell provider a million whatevers to use your phone in Thailand...Shit, that's more than the fricking hotel phone and those are worse than an **** poke.

Here's what I do.
1.Get your phone unlocked, opened to other simm cards done through or by your provider ( I know they say I isn't needed but trust me...I done this for 4 phones)
2. go buy a Thai AIS starter kit. For 800 Baht you get ...Simm Card, your own Thai Number and 500 Baht in Calls.
Rate is from Phuket with your Phuket Mobile Number to south of Pattaya 4 Baht per min north of Pattaya 8 Baht per min
and Intl very cheap Anywhere in Thailand to U.S. 20 Baht per Min.
I don't have the list near by but similar to Eurpoean Countries.

I realize this doesn't work for everybody but I just change my message to say please leave a messare or dial !@@##%-66-6-276-1929 etc. to reach me right away!
You can save alot over the hotel phone alone..Any old mobiles at home, get them unlocked, 800 baht for a kit and you Save alot...
Remember that Thai Mobiles are expensive over U.S. prices.
I./E. Motorola V66 was about $100 U.S. after rebates and in Thailand is was about $250 U.S. with a subscription and 17,000 Baht without......
