New scam??

Have anybody else been trough this in Patong?

Yesterday when I was at jungceylon shoppingcenter 2 thai (1 man and 1 woman) said, "nice shirt", I replied thanks. Then they continue to ask me where I were from, and I replied that I am from Finland. Then they say that they were brother and sister and that the sister would go to helsinki in 1 week, and then they wanted to ask me lots of things and wanted me to meet them at starbucks the next day.

So I thought maybe it was the real deal and said that I could meet them the next day... Then I went away, walking down the street and 10min later I meet a thai man in the street and he starts with the same thing, "nice shirt", "where you from", "have sister that is going to helsinki soon", and wanted to talk... I had nothing else to do so I thought I would see where this would lead. after a while, I got invited to his house in surin beach. I didn't have much money on me, so what the hell I thought, I get into his car, go with him to his home, and there his brother starts to "teach me" blackjack, after a while they want me to get into some card scam where we would win 10.000 dollar from some tourist from brunei, and I would get 25%. I answered no, and said that I want to go back, they drowe me back and in the car they started to ask me for money to "mothers medicine", I answered no again and after that I got dropped off in the outskirts of patong and had to take a motorbike taxi back to the hotel...

Needless to say that I didn't go to starbucks the day after
And yes I now it was stupid to go with them in the first place

You are probably the ''mark'' in the scam. By the time the game was over, you would have lost your money and the Thais would wave you goodbye.

Wow, you're braver than me Datsun. I wouldn't jump into the car of someone I just met off the street in a foreign country.

(Unless she had nice t1ts and ass.)

I have been approached in similar ways in KL a couple of times and always wondered what it was about.

Scams

Hi Datsun

I was reading the Phuket Gazette this morning over breakfast.

Some Thai woman lost 1 milion Baht through a smiliar scam in Phuket.

She agreed to sell her land to a man for 5 million baht and then agreed to meet a man in a hotel to provide 1 million baht of the money for the transaction before she got all her money back.

When she arrived at the Hotel, the man was not there but a group of his friends were playing cards and they invited her to join them until he arrived. Needless to say she lost all her money and the man never turned up.

So she went to the Police and they managed to trak him down at a **** Fight on the Island and arrested him.

So count yourself lucky I suppose.

Regards

Drew

How is that? Datsun was only telling of his experience, and to beware of a scam.

Thanks for the warning but I would have never gotten into that car with strangers. Try to be abit more careful or you could wind up a statistic.

Here's another one to be wary of>>>>

A new scam is going on at car parks all round Patong. 2 gorgeous girls in skimpy tops and shorts wash your windscreen for you and when they're asked how much you owe them, they simply say "just drop us off at the nearest car park".

While you're driving them to the next stop, they start having sex in the back of your car, then one of them climbs in the front and performs oral sex on you while the other steals your wallet !

I had mine stolen on July 16th; 17th; 18th and 19th; twice on the 20th; 21st and 22nd!

Your lucky to just get away with having to pay for a taxi from outside Patong - totally crazy getting into a car in this situation - firearms are not hard to find here and you may have ended up a statistic ... after your 'research' you would have done the world a favour by telling the police and getting the scammers busted.

I am from Canada and the same thing happened to me in Kuala Lumpur about ten years ago. Ended up at her place and her father started teaching me how to play BlackJack and cheat and then a guy from Brunei shows up. Too funny...

Yeah, I know there are a lot of firearms around, but why would they want to kill me? If they want my money, they just have to point that gun at me. And also, quite stupid to take a guy from the streets that you are going to rob, I meen there are a lot of people around.
