Health screening

Wife went for an x-ray yesterday in preparation for applying for a spouse visa in 2 weeks time.Allegedly they spotted something on her x-ray so she has to stay in BKK and return every day for further tests.

Is this normal?or is it the hospital trying to get more money out of people?

It could be a scam by the odd hospital/clinic, depends I guess on how short the doctor is for his monthly repayments on the big Merc his swanning round in

Friend of mines wife had one done in January for the same reasons as your lady but she was only in BKK for the day. Had the X-ray they checked it - obviously OK - and she was heading back to Chiang Mai later that evening.

Maybe some other BMs have heard or know of such a thing?

been thinking about this for a while.
only talking from what happened to my wife when she made her visa for oz.

i know that the chest x ray is one of the most important things on the health check.
they are looking for tuberculosis scaring.
when my wife did her medical she was about to say all the "ka"s to the doctor and walk out to go home, i questioned the doctor and asked to see the radiologists report, because tuberculosis exposure is a problem in south east asia especially if people are from upcountry.
if my wife had some sign of scaring, i was going to get the doctor to recommend a top notch chest expert in bkk and get a report done by him, to hopefully save time with the visa application.

but the thing about going back to the hospital for that length of time is weird i think, if scaring in the lungs is visible 2 weeks wont change the xray unless she has a minor chest infection which the doctors are waiting to see if it clears up.

The hospital is one nominated by your embassy? (Ours was when we got the visa for the wife for Oz)

If so then less likely to be a scam by the hospital - possibly they are just being over cautious as they make a lot of money being an embassy nominated hospital and don't want to get it wrong and lose that business - or the poor kid really does have something wrong with her.

Third option, and I'll just say it before someone else does - maybe your girl wants to stay in BKK for a few days.

Hope it all turns out okay. Enjoy.

I did think it was a ruse to stay in Bangkok but called hospital and all was confirmed she will get results Friday morning, seemingly a small shadow 4mm showed up on x-ray which is more likely scarring from a chest infection when she was a child or so says doctor.

I must admit I was sceptical at first but I suppose thats normal
