55555555555555555555555555555!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got you there guys!
But I didn't lie, they are truly my second hobby!
Every year I breed hundreds sometimes thousands of fightingfish, also called Bettas, they are probably the most widespread symbol of Thailand and are found in aquariumshops in most countries!
The true Siamese Fightingfish, Betta splendens, was one of the first aquariumfishes in the world, and is wellknown among everyone who has ever had a fishtank!
In nature there are maybe 70 or so different species of bettas, and new ones are still discovered every year!
Their homerange extends from Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia to the islands of Indonesia.
I used to catch them myself during one man expeditions to the djungles of Thailand, but now in my older days I prefer to buy them from Chatuchark Weekend Market in BKK and "smuggle" them with me back home!
As some of you might not know my nickname on the boards "Plahgat" (usually spelled Plakat), is Thai for fightingfish!
Young Thai boys usually scavenge the swamps and ponds looking for plakat.
Thais has used plakat for ages as fightingfishes , raised in clay-pots and separated into glass-jars when mature.
Even today many households in Thailand still holds a few plakat males in some bottles at the back of their houses!
When 2 males are put together they will immediately start to fight about the territory, money change hands and the betting can be quite high, heard of businessmen bet for 100000 of bahts!
Personally I keep the fish for their beautiful looks and interesting behaviours!
A big variety of colours and forms has been bred today from the natural fightingfish.
That's all I wanted to say...
ps...between us look out for my posts in the near future,
maybe next time I will post some "real" twolegged Thai Beauties!
See ya soon!
