Bupa insurance

i an getting insurance for my gf and her son
i have been corresponding with a rep via e-mail and my gf talked to her yesterday
the info she sent me isnt really cut and dry and of course, when i asked simple questions about what is covered and if there is any fees(like 50 dollar emergency room) or if she can go to any hospital i dont get replies

anybody know about the Platinum package in Bupa?

i also got quoted a little over 40k for both my gf(24) and her son(6)

any info would help

http://www.bupathailand.com/pdf/plat...f_benefits.pdf

I'm also looking BUPA for the GF (and the new baby in future) cos the one the GF arranged last year was a combined sickness benefit and life insurance policy with a 20yr savings plan.....

The 'money come back' part of her plan was reasonable for day rates and medicine etc but still have to pay 1st reclaim later. I told her I wont do that again... + I already got her insured for 1m.

So for me I want to do BUPA or something similar, just 100% medical, no gimmicks.

Cool Did recently

I recently joined BUPA and had a good discussion with the broker. It is a worldwide policy (except USA - go figure). If you require treatment etc in any place away from their list of registered hospitals you must pay up front. You then notify BUPA.

You must get receipts for everything and a covering letter from the Doctor who was in charge. You then submit a claim to BUPA and they pay you the money back.

When you get the policy it comes with a booklet with all the participating hospitals listed in it by regions of Thailand. It is also very clear as to what is covered and what is not

There is emergency coverage in the US, just not elective.

Reimbursement is supposed to happen within 30 days.

BTW, our fees jump 10% since last year (no claims made and age groups the same).

40K seems high as we are both older and have the 5 million baht coverage for a little less.

There should be a standard rate card that shows the packages and the prices per age group. That is how we did it.

Perhaps they have a seperate rate for off-shore buyers ;-)

I pay 27-29000 i believe for 1 year on the platinum 5 mill plan. Renewed mine about 3 months ago, cant remember the exact rate, but its in that ball park.

In Patient Daily as charged, no Out Patient.
20.000 baht Emergency room cost is covered too.

40000baht for two, doesnt seem too steep when you look at my figures.

I had a look around and bupa was a lot more than others for the same service.. Tho the 'bupa' brand image is quite strong.. Also many of the 'Thai targetted' policies are not global (tho I thought bupa was not USA at all also)..

There is a farang agent that does all the main insurance providers in Thailand.. He will price match and can break it down very well.. He joined here for a while (by coincidence after I had emailed with him) and I would suggest for dealing with remotely he would be ideal.. If you cant dig his contact info out from threads then I will search my archived email.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
I pay 32k for me, Ead and Nathalie. Age 2-5 cost more than for me or Ead.
Its not the high end package, but cover SOS and good enough for Bangkok Phuket Hospital. In patient only.

she even went ahead and started the process before she recieved payment because i thought she would wait until we paid but she went ahead and started it already
