Christian evangelists in Bangkok are peddling salvation as a substitute for sex work.

Two evenings a week, members of Nightlight Ministries visit the seedy hostess and go-go bars of Bangkok's infamous multi-story Nana Entertainment Plaza.

Unlike other customers, they are not there to drink beer, gaze at scantily-clad dancers writhing around chrome poles, or to take one of the women back to a hotel. Instead, their aim is to bring prostitutes "to Jesus Christ," according to the group's Website. "Nightlight's vision is to share the Light of the world in both word and deed to those who live in darkness," the group says.

Last year I got stuck on a plane full of crusading evangelists, I was coming home from LA and they were headed down to the Caribbean to save some heathens. What a freaking nightmare, about 20 of them all with matching t-shirts, big crosses on the back and Jesus sayings on the front. Don't get me wrong, I'm not satanist or anything but the group of them singing at 1am on a red eye flight almost sent me looking for the emergency door. Stewardess finally asked them to stop about an hour into the flight, the head zealot got offended and threatened to sue the airline.

It's great that these people are down with JC but in my opinion they should keep it to themselves and contain the enthusiasm till Sunday.

Good luck to them, but I hope they aren't too succesful with their mission
