not really a recommendation, just a comment of my last liveaboard to similans:
don't book the M/V Amarpon, the crew is good, but the boat is not really perfect

I've used Scubacat a few times and have never had a problem with them. They have a liveaboard boat at the Similans, and taxi divers back and forth with a speedboat or a slower supply boat three or four times a week.

Very flexible setup,no problem extending your stay as long as they're not fully booked.

A safe,well run operation.

i used Divetheworld Diving the World to book the mermaid I in feb 05. decent boat, good food, knowledgeable dive masters, nice diving, and price wasn't that bad for five days diving.
have never used them but scuba cat usually runs trips. they have a boat that stays at the similans during the high season and they use a speed boat to transfer you back and forth.
i have used dive asia and warm water divers for day trips. both good operations.

The quality of the staff is more important than the quality of the cabins. IŽd rather dive with people who know the reefs and sleep on a plank, than dive with nervous divemasters and sleep in a kingsize.

Hmm, budget. If the diving is great i am willing to pay..

2 more BMs, Nelsonone and Seafox will probably give you a lot of extra info about this. I know the pair of them regularily visit the Similians for the diving.

Been on the Mermaid 1 and 2 and both boats are nice. Mermaid 2 now does Similan/Richilieu trips 4 nights 14 dives

Genesis 1 is less expensive and a good boat.

Also Similan Scuba has a floating dormitiry like boat, another way to go.

Lots of options depending upon how much you want to pay.

check out South Siam Divers website for short time liveaboards......4 days if you are going out of patong or Cahalong is not really long enough....South Siam go out of Koa Lak so you are getting 3 dives in the Similans the day your trip starts after transferring via minbus and speedboat

as seafox said above Mermaids run a good operation

and as you are a scandi try scandinavian divers website.....these guys are good!!!.......its all about which one fits your interest + itinerray best
