toll for beach

A friend does come back from LOS and told, that at Laemsing Beach, Surin (?) and some other small beaches they charge (or will charge) for “use” of the beach!!??
Have someone heard of this or can someone tell more about? I can not believe.
I don’t find this funny!!

Laem Sing Beach

Hi Werwolf,

I went to Laem Sing Beach a lot of times. They only charge the seats 50 bath/day/seat.

It's a nice little beach where you can snorkeling in high season (now the waves are too strong) and people in the little restaurants are very friendly.

Hi,
You just pay for the chairs as domifletch said. There is also a parking fee at Laem Sing Beach.

Nui beach is a very nice small beach wich I visited often 4-5 years ago, now they charge an entry fee of 100 baht I think.

Paradise beach is available by road from Patong, they have signs where they say bringing food or beverage from outside is prohibited. I dont remember if they charged for parking.

Beaches in Thailand is public and everybody should have access to them and it is stated by law, but it is not always true.

Sounds like a rip off, no ? If it's true, simply avoid that place. There are enough beaches in Phuket.

Hi Werwolf

Last month neither Laem Sing or Surin beaches made any charge to use them.
As the other guys have said, only the 50bht charge for sunlounger.
If there is a charge,is it the government trying to make money from tourists in the low season?

Yes, some do...

I understand your displeasure, but for some reason the (illegal) tolls never bothered me much...
