cheap calls uk-los (3p a min.)
i know alot of the old hands know about cheap call options but i have just used this one and it works fine.
good for calling landlines ,so if you need to phone around hotels in thailand its ideal.
call 0870 9963 678 and follow the prompts.

Actually, perhaps some board members can assist me in this matter. It was something i was going to ask but thought I'd research myself. For the English Board members who ring Thailand regally, what I am looking for is a calling card that I can use from a mobile phone to ring a mobile phone. I'll have a pay as you go phone, no phone bills.
has anyone got any recomendations?
I think I might have found a phone card. It works out to 40 gbp a month with unlimited phone calls for the month and the charge to the phone is minimal. Sounds like the best option than having a card with a set amount of time units on.
Still any help would be great.

If you have a PC, why don't you go for Skype or similar? It is cheaper.

Yes good idea if u have access to the USB ports in the I-cafe.
Also if anyone is interested ? with SKYPE u can make it 'portable' and use it from a USB stick . Copy ur skype stuff from ur user profile and copy the skype.exe from program files into 1 folder on ur drive :-
then plug in USB , wait for instllation to finish , then if ur USB stick comes up as drive D:
D:\Skype\Bin\Skype.exe /nosplash /removable/datapath :\Skype\Data\Skype
runs it portable and ALL ur chats, receoived files etc etc are always with you

The problem is, I'm in England for 6 months and then I'm heading off again to do something new for a while. I won't have internet connection, unless i go to an Internet cafe or a mates house. So anything to do with the internet is a no-go. I should have mentioned that.
I know here in Germany they do Sim cards that you can make calls to Thailand for 15 cents a minute, so I might look for something like that back in the UK.

Well, with the crappy tcom service in Germany, I bet you find something better in the UK 55555 (sorry m8, I just couldn't resist putting that thought down)

It's possible to make 'free' calls using inclusive minutes on a contract sim with some networks, but i doubt you'd get a 6 month contract.

If you have a laptop with wifi enabled, turn it on and check for unsecured networks. You can then piggy back.
From my apartment I have 11 in range and 4 are unsecured.
Makes for excellent download speeds.

It does seem strange, but you know its illegal to connect to an unsecured wireless network? Quite recently somebody was taken to court over this and fined.
