independant
I try to find a Thai owned independant store to buy stuff from as this hopefully keeps any profit in Thailand. Sending the profit to Japan is crazy in my mind.

Wow how difficult is it to live your life Lantern, if you applied this to every object made elsewhere or companies owned by foreign countries you would have hardly anything to buy or be spending all day checking this information out!!!
And why is it 'crazy in your mind to send the profit to japan'??

The stores aren't owned by Japanese. They are owned by franchise operators who pay a fee to buy a franchise. They make their wholesale purchases through the franchiser and that is where the franchiser makes most of their money, usually, in selling goods to the store. So most of the profit is made and retained by the local person who runs the stores.
If one big company owned the stores, they would not be opening up stores across the street from each other, which often happens. But the big company could care less, since they are making their money selling goods to the stores, so it doesn't much matter to them how profitable the stores are.

7-11s are much better in LOS than in US. They just sell mostly beer, soft drinks, milk, coffee, Slurpees, and overpriced crap here!! In LOS, it is more like a miniature store, with lots of the stuff you really need to get, and the prices don't seem too bad.
