Your aware that here its mostly scammers, ex boiler roomers, and outright cheats ??

If you can swim with the pond scum there are people working it, less recently tho than before IMO.

Excellent. I like that one Simbo, problem is now I'll have to go for a drive over the hill, park up and walk up and down beach road until I spot the first one............"Do you speak English?" - Smack........."Sorry, yes thank you, do you need a hospital?".............Can't wait.

Marriot Hotel is selling time share, had a friend work for them and met a couple of the guys that also work there the other night in Roma Bar. I'll look for an email or web address but you should find it by a google search. They are always looking for staff.

Now remember it was me that put you on to it, so once you get your new job sorted send me the ticket for two free rounds at Blue Canyon Golf Course, heh give a little get a little???

See, not so much madness in my method or is that method in my madness? who knows, he won't anyway, he's a timeshare salesman, so it won't matter!!

I got stopped by an English lad and an Aussie girl on a motorbike once when I was walking from beach road.

He talked the usual crap went on and on about going to see some place the next day, And that I had won a free gift with a chance to win a large amount of Baht.

All I had to do was go along the next day but I had to be by myself not allowed to have even a Thai Girlfriend and of course take my credit card.

I thought who does this idiot think he is talking to, I let him go on and on and showed a bit of interest, Well I was in no rush but it was mid-afternoon and then started to get very hot and I needed a drink so I just said, "Im fcuking bored now good bye" you should have seen his face.

Sorry, but I wouldn't give the time of day to timeshare salesmen.
About as trustworthy as a 2nd hand car dealer (are you listening ER 555)

Waste of a holiday listening to them witter on, trying to persuade you that an investment of £7k on a holiday home is a good idea

I went for a 90 minute presentation in Southern California where I lived at the time, so not shorting of a holiday. The reward was 2 days at a Hilton hotel. After the presentation, It was time for the sales pressure. I told the sales person that I had no money and even more so, no intention to sign up for anything. I just came for the 2 free nights. After another 30 minutes, two high pressure managers and me hardly having more than 2 words in my vocabulary: "Not Interested"; I finally got my certificate for two nights. I redeemed them at Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Later I read an article in USA Today detailing the same scheme. If you have the couple of hours, the "gift" is worth more than the two hours AND you have the self control of not caving in to high pressure; it may be worth while.

horrible things that they are, dreading the day i see one when up visiting north, timeshare with beautiful view of rice fields and the klong.

i like simbos reply its a goody.

if they ask me if i speak english i usually reply "mai put pasa angrit", they usually leave you alone.

2 mates and i walking along beach road before, up came the timeshare motorbike demons, i said sorry to them i am busy, just talk to my manager (worked well that line with tailors etc and other touts, "hey mister manager talk to your boss for me about suits"), my poor mate was stuck there for about 2 hours, too polite to tell them bye bye, only problem was he was thinking about buying one after the hard sell, god protect him from car salesmen etc.

he is a catholic, anyone know the patron saint of protection against touts?.

Thats the difference between you and I Lars. I have been caught up in two of them now, one in Patong in 2004 and one at Daytona Beach in '98. The one in the US was worse with the hard sell, and they tried everything to close a deal. In the end I told them I was unemployed and they dropped me like a hot brick 5555. Got a free meal for two hours of my life wasted.

Now I'd tell them to politely get lost.

There is a big difference between the OPCs and the Sales. OPC gets, usually about US$100 for getting you to attend presentation, the salesman gets about 20% of the sale price - no sale no money. OPCs and sales rarely mix, and if they do they often end up fighting. Usually hate each other.

A buddy of mine had them do the game on him, free digital camera for 30 min spiel..

He goes in, gets intorduced says "No thanks I am just here for my camera and the time is now xx.xx" and just sits there.. Each time they started on he would interrupt and say "so what kind of camera, what make, does it have a flash, just enjoying himself..

At 30 mins and a few seconds he say ok thanks, 30 mins up. Camera please.. They were starting the song and dance that he had to go see a presentation but by now they knew he was a local resident with a house.. One guy says cos he didnt go to a 'presentation' he cant have it.. He picks up the phone and says OK, just calling my brother in law, deputy chief of police.. Then dials and starts blabbing away in Thai with the prominent english 'work permit' blah blah blah (he was calling his wife) and seconds later was presented a fuji digi cam and hustled out the building..

At least someone wins.. Rarely tho..

I don't hate them they are real outgoing characters to go for a beer with!!! its a job, not one I'd like but a job and if you are not interested then only have to say no, how hard is that?

In nearly 2 years of living here I've been stopped by them once, how many times has the same, yes the same tailor asked me if I'm from Australia? let alone all the others.

Boxer is asking about OPC position, so after my first bit of okay info, I also can add that Laguna are selling timeshare just passed Surin.

Pssst!! Box me ol mate, Laguna are doing free golf tickets as well, don't forget how good I've been to ya!!!
