Last stupid question... Sea gypsies?

Hi guys,

I read on the internet that Phuket has a large community of sea gypsies.

Has anyone met any? Can you hang out with them? If you went fishing with them would you get robbed/drowned/sold into white slavery????

Also, do they speak Malay ('cos my g/f does)?
