Tirak again ....
Time flies, last week was our first wedding anniversary and we booked a table at the
Lemongrass Thai restaurant (I know, I'm a very original guy )
When we were ready to order, my wife called the waitresses attention: "Tirak, ..."
It's just that they didn't serve beer, otherwise my bottle of Singha would have dropped to
the floor by now.
She hardly uses tirak, we only use it for fun sometimes, but calling a female waitress she
never met before Tirak? ... well, I learn something new everyday.
But I must say, she was quite lovely. When I asked her where she comes from she told
me: "I'm from Thailand, Bangkok"
Amazing, from Thailand, I would have never guessed that part of her answer 555555
Off to the 2nd year...may it be as great and fun as the first one !

Yep, the food was good. They say it's the best Thai in town, but I still prefer my wifes cooking and bbq'ing at home. Those bangers know nothing about proper Isaan food :-)

Reminds me of when I visited for Songkran, In the morning I thought I would be clever and leave the tip for the room cleaner in an envelope and write on the front "Happy Songkran Kop Khun Khrap".
Went back later and it was still there, It never occured to me even though I wrote it in Thai maybe the poor girl couldn't read roman letters even it was in Thai. Duh

congrats, U2U. great to hear that all is well.
It doesn't seem odd to me that your tirak called the waitress tirak. Maybe she has been watching American movies. It is not at all odd for a woman to call a waitress, "Dear," here, and in some parts of the country, they might even say, "Honey," or "Sweetie." Tirak means the same in Thai, so not odd to tme.

I heard that some other girls call somebody else like that....but not for me and I neither like to call my bf with tirak too (it's too sweet for me, coz I’m a biter girl)... But I think that is okay....nothing wrong with that word
